Excerpt: "The base 8800 Ultra clocks do not look that promising as you can buy overclocked 8800GTX’s with the same speed if not faster. XFX changes this by bringing you 3 different versions of the Ultra. These are the $799.99 Ultra which matches NVIDIA’s reference Ultra speed, the $829.00 USD overclocked Ultra which is faster yet, and finally; the $879.00 XXX version which is by far the fastest of the trio and the product we'll be reviewing today"

AWESOME card, AWESOME review!!! Thanks guys for a GREAT and interesting review.
I also agree that it is WAY OVERPRICED, although it outperforms the GTX....but come on, that's just too much! ;-)
Anyway, is there a chance you gonna give the card as a giveaway prize... ...well...I guess NOT...

Anyone notice the price drop on EVGA's 8800 Ultra?

They had announced a free 680i LT motherboard with purchase of this card, but for some reason they dropped the price instead. I don't think it's everywhere though.
I also agree with others, ultra's are overpriced. I mean if you think about it you can watercool a GTX, overlcock it to ultra speeds, and still spend less than the cost of a ultra. I guess you could say Ultras are for the people not so good with modding? It's still a great card though..

Gee guys, nothing like digging up a 2 month old thread...............;) For the new guys I can sort of understand, but for the others, just where were you when the review was released...........:)
lol, sorry for digging up a 2 month old thread. I just like to express my point of view on things. Might see a lot of old threads revived seeing a lot of us are here for the August competition too.
It's fun to win prizes for doing something you already do. Ahmm... Anyways I'll stop being :offtopic:

This is why contests that involve making the most posts are tricky at best. Diluted information and lack of useful input abound.
