View Full Version : X800GT vs. 9800Pro 128MB 256bit on both...
Hi, can u tell me which one is better, I know that X800 is newer series but how do they compete in games like Doom3 or NFS Carbon?
Thanks in advance for all answers ;)

X800 should win every single benchmark, and then some. Keep in mind while the X800GT is newer, it only offers SM2 support as it is still a very old card. SM3 and now with DX10 SM4 are out. There is a marked improvement in modern games with graphics cards that support Shader Model 3. Any of the x1000 series cards are the newer generation, and the HD 2000 series are latest generation cards. :icon_tiphat:

X800 all the way, but like Kougar said consider the x1000 series. Nvidia 7600gt/gs would also be ok, or even an 6600gt specially compared to 9800pro. I'm guessing you're still on agp, which does tend to make thing a bit more expensive.
Yeahm I'm still on AGP, I'm not much of a gamer (I'm still using GF4 MX440 :icon_tiphat:), so I decided to buy a used card, and I had a choice, waiting 15 days for X800GT, or take Sapphire 9800Pro in 2 days.
And as I am very unpatient I took 9800Pro :). I guess I'll be able to run bunch of new games on it, prolly not on highest detail but nevermind. When its needed I'll go take something stronger.
Thanks for answers ;)

In some cases my 9800XT beat out my friends X800pro. Something to think about. (Both 128mb)

A AGP slot can still more than handle the card, card makers never fully used the bandwidth of the APG slot before the PCI-e came out.....;) Anyway, I can't complain about the card I'm getting, it's new (Newegg) and it's free (trading stuff again).........:) And on top of that, it's going to make the wife extremely happy, and as everyone knows that's married, that's always a very good thing...........;)
