As you can see from the title of this thread, i am currently having trouble with my brand new Mushkin PSU (that i won from the contest).

It replaced my Antec 550watt True Power II SLi power supply.

What happens is, well, nothing.

Everything is plugged in, 24pin, 4 pin and molex into the motherboard.

the green light on the mobo turns on but nothing happens when i press the power button. The power button is in the correct slot on the motherboard, and everything is firmly pressed in. I dont no what to do.

I tried CMOS clear, and flicked the back button a few times, but i really dont want to jump start it incase it breaks or electrocutes me.

Please help. Thanks in advance!

If you can, try it on another motherboard but if that isn't possible take the PSU out of your case and try jumping it to see if the fan spins.

If you are unfamilar on how to jump a PSU, here is an example:

Another thing you could try is shorting the "power switch" pins on your motherboard using a screw driver as the power button in your case could be faulty.

is it safe to do the jump starting and can i do it while the PSU is still in my case.
since i would have to remove the cpu heatsink to take the psu out.
the pins in the motherboard should be fine since they worked with the other psu 20 mins before i swapped it.

This power supply can easily power your system.

Just want to make sure of a couple of things. Are the pci-e connectors going to blue ports on psu, and sata/molex/floppy to the black ports?

If this is all setup right, re-check your connections to the board.

Since the motherboard lights are showing power, it would seem to me, it is sending power, why it is not powering up is a mystery to me.

Is the psu grounding wire not shorting out anything?

the grounding wire was connected to my motherboard screw, and everything is plugged in accordingly, i just tried with ther grounding wire unplugged it didnt make a difference, what should i do?

Ok, I have an idea to test if power button is working, try reset one in power spot instead, then use reset button as power button.

This is just a temporary thing to rule that out, as it was mentioned.
If this doesn't work, i'll direct this to my rma guy in the morning, and tom to see what we can get done about getting you a new power supply sent.

thanks alot gdogg and everyone

by the time u posted about the reset button idea i had already swapped the PSU out for my old one, and im posting on the machine rite now.

looks like the new unit is defective, and on the back where the I/O button is, there are a few scrape marks on it, dont no if it has been used before or what

but i am gonna be hoping for an RMA, since the unit is not working

I have heard lots of good things about you from these forums, other ones, and my friend who has your PSU and Ram so i hope it all works out well.

You will get an rma for sure, that is not an issue. I will see what can be arranged to make it as quick as possible for you.

That's too bad that you got a defective unit!

But hey, you shouldn't worry with such a GREAT Customer and Service Support from Muhskin! They're the BEST!!!

I also got once a defective RAM from Mushkin and they quickly and easily RMAed it for me, before I even sent them back the defective unit. Only after I got the new ones, and checked that everything is OK, I shipped them back the defective unit. ;-)

That's what I call SERVICE!!! WAY TO GO, Mushkin!!! :icon_tiphat:
