Boy I can relate, as a guy I never ask for directions even if my nautical chart is a bit off. Though when I go astray I don't cause $88M+ eorth of damage.

Well, I dont think the captain should, as he Isnt the one who would be reading directly off the equipment, it should be whoever was at the stations for those machines and providing the information I would think

The Captain will lose his command.. That's the way it works. He's ultimately responsible.

He lost his command. The captian is the one in charge for everything that happens.

That's just the way the military is................;) Now the guy's on duty at the time will get something bad out of all this I'm sure, but that will more than likely never come out as it's not near as news worthy as a Cpt losing a command.

The Captain double-checked those charts... he should have caught it himself, especially since he knows his sub has a long history of navigational deficiencies better than anyone else.

That must have been one hell of an impact that everyone was sent flying hard enough most received moderate injuries..
