View Full Version : 9800 Pro frequencies?
I got Sapphire Atlantis 9800 Pro, and by this (http://www.techspot.com/reviews/hardware/sapphire_9800pro/) review freqs should be 380/340.
I got 325/290 and I wanna know why, coz thats quite a difference :help:
Here's a screenshot of my card...

EDIT: I forgot to mention, drivers installed are Omega based on Catalyst 7.4, if that maybe ahs any influence...?

325/290 are the clock speeds for the vanilla 9800 card and if in fact your card is a 9800Pro the clock speeds should be 380/340. That is quite odd.
Other than that I don't think its a big deal as you should be able to overclock your card to 380/340.

Sapphire made a bunch of different part numbers that carried the 9800Pro badge, and they all had different specs. If I remembe correctly there was a huge fuss over this at one time because some of them wvwn shipped with a 128 bit bus instead of the normal 256 bit buss. Here in the states they were required to re-make all there retail boxes to reflect exactly which specs (bus type) the cards had because the way they were shipped was very misleading.
Even on Sapphire's web site it's hard to tell what's what with the card (Atlantis), the specs are all over the place and no where does it even list a speed.

The Atlantis series was a easy (misleading) way for Sapphire to unload all their weak GPU's that didn't fully meat specs.

Well, i posted a pic in my first post taken in Everest and u can see that it's 9800Pro indeed.
I would try to overclocki it to those freqs 380/340 but I'm kindof affraid becouse there is no temp sensors on that card (like on meny 9800 cards).

Doesn't matter if it's a Pro version, the problem is that it's a Atlantis Model and there were very many different versions of that card, you just happened to buy one with lower clocks. Seeing as it's a lower clocked version it might not beable to OC all that well either, before you start, you need to check and see which type of memory is on the card. If it anything other than Samsung E die GDDR, you might have a problem getting the memory up to speed, the core might beable to make it a bit higher though.
Well OK then, thanks for help ;)
I'm running her now on 330/320 though i have one question. I overclocked her with ATT but I just get it to make new profile so it can automaticly load that freqs on startup.
When I click save button it says Error: Nothing to save in profile!

So make sure you make your new profile. Load new profile, type in/raise sliders to desired 3d performance clocks, click Set Clock, then save your new profile.
Thanks, but I managed to get what I want eith ATi Tool. When I'm in windows, or any other 2d app then the card runs on default freqs 325/290, when it detedts 3d app automaticly changes to 340/320.
I find this very satisfiying :)
PS..sry if there's some gramatical mistakes in my english :)

Yeh, it's always good to save some power, god knows our machines chew through enough as it is.
