Alrighty, here goes:

First off: I didn't run memtest86+ because 1) I couldn't get it to boot from a USB key, 2) I don't have any blank cd's at the moment. Also, it should pass Orthos anyway.

I manually set my Crucial Ballistix(DDR2 800) to the manufacturer's rating, which is 4-4-4-12-2T @ 2.2v

I ran Orthos to test my Crucial Ballistix in my new 680i LT. I had them set in dual channel mode. When the stress is run on the ram, Orthos will fail within 1/2 hour. This also applies to blend mode, but it will fail in roughly 2 hours.

So I took one stick out and tested, and it was fine. The other stick I did the same. I then slot tested, and it was fine. But they aren't working together.

Also, these particular pair of Ballistix were great performers in my p5b dlx.

All of this seems to means I must be missing a setting somewhere. I'm new to the whole 680i realm, so please don't make to much fun.

So what settings am I missing?

ps~The ram had plenty of cooling, so that's not the issue.(Desk fan blowing in for assurance of coolness, lol.)

Sorry to hear about the problems, you are not installing both RAM sticks next to eachother are you? For example both go in the white slots or both in the black. Have you started a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com? What are the rest of your system specs?

Is your CPU overclocked?

You have to isolate your tests to one peice of hardware if you want to get any kind of definite result so either get some blanks CDs or download the floppy version of memtest unless you don't have a floppy drive installed and don't have one lying around.

Specs:
XFX 680i LT
E6600
Ballistix DDR2 800
7800GTX
X-Fi Platinum
320GB WD Sata drive
All at stock until I can make sure I'm rock solid.

I grabbed a few blanks today, so I'll try and get memtest working.

No, I am not installing the sticks beside one another. They indeed confirm dual channel, both are in the white slots when installed.

My CPU has tested out fine time and time again.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I seem to have fixed the problem.

For whatever reason, when I unlinked the ram with everything at stock settings speedwise, it went fine.

I also bumped the CPU voltage just a bit as well as the northbridge. Solid as a rock now!
