i got a viewsonic vx2235wm 22 hd widescreen monitor. first everythings seems great i love the great quality. then i made something at work around the color red and then i went home to edit the same poster then it seems like the upper screen is darker than the lower screen. is there anyway to fix this. being a graphic designer and all it makes it really annoying not seing the same color on top and bottom makes me double check everything.

Theres a few people on here with that monitor (myself included) but I have never had anything like this happen. Have you tried a different cable, or maybe even the different settings (standard, text, cinema etc)?

I think, there should be a menu on your monitor called " Auto Image Adjust ". I do have this menu on my 17" Viewsonic TFT.It'll do all the picture corrections on the press of that button. If u have that menu, try using that.

If you press the button closest the the blue ON button and to the right of it, it will do this I think, but not sure if it will correct what you're experiencing

That's called color banding, a problem with a lot of different LCD's, and generally is very hard to get rid of. it is partly due to the backlite CCL's not putting out a equal amount of light over the entire screen area. This can also sometimes be seen as back light bleed through around the edges of the screen. If you have the LCD connected to the DVI input, the Auto adjust will not work, at least on most LCD's, you'll have to go in and manually try and adjust the color range. But normally this is a problem with the screen it's self and not the screen settings. You can try swapping cables as well as changing from the DVI to standard VGA connector to see if it will force the panel back into to correct lighting.
Other than that, you might want to contact either the place where you got the screen or Viewsonic.

I have the exact same screen and I experience that exact same problems.
As I have read on the net, we are not the only ones with this problem, it's probably common for this particular screen.
I don't take it too hard, I just tilt it a little down and all is fine.

Although a bit irritating, it's a great LCD over all...

That's strange. I'm having exactly the same screen for more than a year now (I bought it in Taiwan as soon as it came out...) and I've never had such problems.

Have you tried installing the Drivers from ViewSonic site? I'm pretty sure that's NOT the problem, but it never hurts to try...

The explanation that Bio-Hazard said looks very logical to me and I really trust his view and his experience. ;-)

I would try, like Bio suggested to contact the shop from which you bought the LCD and maybe they can help you out...GOOD LUCK and keep us updated...:icon_tiphat:
