I'm about to upgrade, but with upgrading comes many choices which should be wise ones. After reading countless benchmarks and specs about graphics cards,I believe that the 8800 GTS range is better as a long term choice.Due to the cost and tight budget,I'm more inclined to the 320mb version. After reading some benchmarks I was concerned with performance ditches because of the memory, but I noticed that these only occurred on resolutions higher than 1600x1200 and full AA and AF.

My next rig will be an intel e4400 2.0ghz duo core, with 1.5 gig ram.

Do you think that with an 8800 320mb be enough to run dx10 games above 27fps on 1280x1024 resolutions with moderate AA and AF?

Sure it would.
Those are pretty powerful cards.
Of course they are a little cripled because of RAM but as long as you stay in a decent res you'll be fine.

check this out if you want.
