Well well well now.
I know this might be old news but how about running your XBOX games and Wii game on PS3.
Why buy any of those consoles when you can have one that does everything.

How about back ups !

Or what about running windows on this wonderful 7 core machine !
And there is a lot more out there.
This is for the retards who kept bashing the PS3.
"Its too technological so developers don't make games for it"
Take that dumb people !!
It can play all your crappy games and more :)

Umm, yeah right. Of course you can play Xbox360 and Wii games on the PS3. Man, I need to sell my Wii and 360 and just keep the PS3.
Jeez - come on Schwarz. You can't seriously claim to think these were in any way true?
As for Windows. The most I've seen is people running Wine under Linux which runs on the PS3. Problem is - Linux runs really slow so anyone trying to run Windows really is in for a sloooooooow experience.
I own a PS3 (in addition to the 360 and Wii). Am I allowed to bash it? So far it really hasn't been worth the money - maybe for the PS2 games I haven't had time to finish yet - but certainly not for any PS3 games. Motorstorm is fun for a while but other than that - nothing that I have to have yet. I got tons of more games for the 360 that I have bought or am interested in (bought 2 yesterday) so right now the PS3 is not living up to it's potential.
Don't get me started on the Wii though - to me it represents the same category of hardware as the iPOD. A piece of hardware people buy not because it is good but because it is cool to own. It's an ok console but selling far more than it should concidering the lack of good games for it. It doesn't help that Nintendo Europe still hasn't released Paper Mario or that we still do not have games like Trauma Center here.

Man I would buy the wii solely for the tennis. I'm a tennis nut, can never get enough of it, and when I'm not playing for real, I'd love to be playing it on the Wii, but i havn't got one yet so i go to my friend's and we play there. The wii is a highly 'social' (dont laugh) console I think. My mates and I have a damn good time playing the Wii sports

My kids love the Wii. Anything that makes teenagers move more than a mouse finger has to be good.
PS3? don't have one, but my friend does and he loves it so much he has just sold me his 360. Needless to say, I'm delighted.
The PS3 comes into it's own with a high-def TV, but you are moving into the realms of serious wedge for the both. Too rich for me at the moment.
But one day, one day...

Well to be honest it wasnt a joke at first but...erm i`m here looking stupid heh.
Anyways I don`t own any of these consoles but since I listened to that ridiculous PS3 song on youtube I kinda hate 360 fanboys...
I don`t have much to say except ignore this thread heheh...ugh..

lol.. i myself am somewhat of a 360 fanboy.. Though i much prefer PC gaming.. I have no problem accepting that the PS3 is more powerful and probably has more potential, but the 360 has more games, its alot cheaper and has Xbox live which imo is the icing on the cake..

Every new console starts out with few titles. Why do people keep harping on the number of games available???
When the 360 came out I wanted one. Unfortunately I have a life and couldn't spend the night in front of a store to wait in line to buy one as soon as the doors opened. So I missed the initial release. I was geared up to buy one as soon as another shipment arrived. I waited, and waited, and waited. By the time MS got off of their aces and actually produced more units, I no longer wanted one. After 5 or so months, that was long enough, so I decided to wait for the PS3 and its Blu-Ray capabilities (which I got in January, only a few months after the initial launch) to play on my 60" SXRD.
Anyway, there wasn't a lot of titles for the 360 when it hit the street either. And ya know what? People said the same thing, "Why pay $400 for the 360 when the PS2 is soooo much cheaper and has way more games?" I say buy what YOU want and who cares what others say.
I like my original XBOX, and I own a few Sega and Nintendo consoles, so don't think this is coming from a Play Station zealot. ;-)

Its funny how its obvious who is 1st 2nd and 3rd. People say the 360 is 1st but WRONG. The Wii has sold more consoles than 360 and its been out for a shorter period of time. All i keep hearing about the PS3 is that its big, bulky, and dosent do much for the price you pay cause the games on it suck. Played one, and i agree. And sorry, on the "release" thing, the PS3 has been out for a while now. Wheres the games we where all promised? Oh and 7 cores? 1 is disabled, so that makes 3. Only thing the PS3 is good for is F@H.

The Xbox had way more games than the PS3 does at this point in its life. And yes the Wii is way ahead.. and it always will be its awesome.. lol :) I think the PS3 will be great when the price drops around £100 lol.. still around £450 in the UK whereas the xbox can be had for £250 with some games and stuff..
Ive still got my Sega megadrive.. :P its great.. Sonic ftw.

Well, I like the games I have for it so far. I like Resistance, COD3, NFS Carbon and Tony Hawk. ;-)
My main reason for buying it was that Blu-Ray players, at the time, cost around $900 and this was only $600. It's a nice Blu-Ray player and with firmware update 1.80 it is also an upscaling DVD player (and the quality of that rivals my dedicated upscaling DVD player). It can also upscale your old PS2 and PS1 games. I have about 8 PS3 games (only 4 or 5 shy of what I have on the original XBOX) and 12 movies. ;-)
The PS3 is not just a console, just like your PC is not just a word processor or calculator. It has a built in web browser and supports USB keyboard and mouse. This makes it a nice little internet box in my living room that boots far faster than any PC. So, I'm on the web in seconds as opposed to minutes, should I choose to do so. The PS3 is an appliance that works well in my collection of gadgets.
Oh, and that's an interesting bit of math. 7-1 = 3. ;-)
First, I believe it's 8 cores and one is disabled, making it 7.
From http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/CellBroadband
Unique Multi-Core Design
Breakthrough architectural design features a main Power Processing Element (PPE) and up to eight Synergistic Processing Elements (SPE).
As you can see from Sony's sight it can be up to 9 cores. 1 PPE and up to 8 SPE cores. However, I know they haven't shipped any with that many enabled.
I'm not here to debate the awesomeness of any console. What dictates what one likes about anything is always an opinion. We need not agree.

Why they make it cost so much to put in so much extra BS is beyond me. What happend to the likes of the NES? 3 cables, blow on a cartridge and your done.
Oh, and that's an interesting bit of math. 7-1 = 3. Ahaha i was totaly thinking of the 360, sorry. ;) And the PS3 is 7 cores with one disabled. Which makes 6. Its IBMs Core Cell processor. SOmething Sony dosent dare mention on their site.

What part of OPINION don't you get? Which games are better are based on OPINION. Do you understand what I am saying???
You are stating OPINION that differs from mine and has nothing to do with the fact that CONVERGENCE is where everything is going, whether you like it or not. Previous consoles where only meant to be game boxes, but the next generation consoles are not. You are stating what YOU think should be a console and not grasping the big picture of what engineers are trying to do.
Why is it stupid for someone to want a box to play games, watch movies and surf the web and not have to spend a $1000 or more to get it? A good PC to do the same thing will cost that or more. Not to mention the fact that PC's hardware goes out of date far faster than any console, so you are spending more money to keep it up to date over the same period of time that a console is still useful. Sounds more like the other way around. If this is all that someone wants, it would be stupid to buy a PC.
If you don't want one, don't buy one. No one is telling you that you have to. I told you why I bought one. I wasn't telling you that you're stupid for not buying one.
Just so you know, I've been working with PCs (building, trouble shooting, repairing, writing software for them) for over 16 years. I have a background in electronics and software engineering. I've been around the block a few times, now, and am no noobie to consoles/PCs. ;-)
Opinions are like assholes, some just smell more than others. :p
