NVIDIA SAYS its G92 high-end graphics card will deliver almost a teraflop of computing performance.
In an analyst webcast, Nvidian Michael Hara says that the chip will be ready for Christmas, a release cycle the company adopted with G80, where high-end products come out for Chrimbo and the mid-range and low-end products hit in the spring.

I don't know, but it sounds like they will come out with a Geforce 9800 or something like that this year or early next year that will be 2 times as fast as the Geforce 8800 Ultra. I am looking forward to that one. :)

Well, again...it will probably be good, but it still depends on how it works..its going to have competition from the ATI Radeon R700 series...

Well I don't know how that is going to be, because like right now, some of the Radeon 2xxx series video cards are slower than the Geforce 8800 ones, but that also depends on which ones you get. People say that they are not really satisfied with the new Radeon cards, I don't know how the new ones will be though.

Yea, and they are going to skip 8900 series?
EDIT: Oh and Blue Moon, DDR333 is PC2700, not 3200.

The actual power of G92 might surprise some. The 8800 can rustle up about 330Gflops, which means the green team is suggesting that the 9800 could be three times more powerful. If that's true, the question remains - why bother? What games are going to take advantage of that? If the answer is Crysis at 2560x1600, Nvidia better hope that the game doesn't slip much further than it already has. µ "
Ok see this is where NVIDIA is heading and the INQ does not think as usaual. Anybody hear about Tesla that NVIDIA introduced about a week ago? They are now going to continue to make the GPU as powerful as they can even if the competition or games do not exist. Sine the are using the GPU for Tesla the will want to continue the increase in performance.
More about Tesla can be read here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_43499.html

It also depends on how they configure the GPU. If they do it like the ATI R700, it will be a lot more effective, because it will require less cooling, and may also be more energy efficient.

If that's true, the question remains - why bother?Well we have PCI-E and the bandwidth wasnt even used on AGP so why bother? Just the advancement in technology. I say, go Nvidia.

Cool ok but seriously let the devs catch up with what you have now..

And if you do that then people will be griping that technology needs to update faster. Been through that already when 3d graphics where just coming along. Be glad that its going as fast as it is, just means a better future for us in the computer world.
