Hi all,
I bought an XFX 650i Ultra motherboard from eBuyer in UK. It looks slightly different from the instruction manual. e.g. It only has a 4 pin ATX power connecter instead of the 8 pin mentioned in the manual.
Also, the HD audio on the motherboard is not usable as the driver on the CD and the XFX website (v164) are not the correct driver (according to XP Pro). I even downloaded V170 driver from Realtek without any luck.
I also tried updating to P2 bios firmware without luck.
My question is: Do I have a pre-release or a fake motherboard? If not has anyone got the sound working?

The XFX 650i Ultra that I reviewed also has a 4-Pin CPU connection.
I do not recall any issues with the HD audio codec as I use a discrete sound card. Though check your bios setting to ensure it is enabled.
It doesn't sound like you got scammed. The manual I got also shows an 8-pin CPU connector though those manuals are just mass-produced so it doesn't reflect the ACTUAL board.

I'm pretty sure that's just a typo in the Quick Install Guide. Mine is the same.
Possibly test boards were made with the 8 pin power connection, but they decided to go with 4 pin instead. Maybe someone from XFX can enlighten us.

They are correct as the 650i has a four pin power connector not the eight pin. We will be posting the newer revision motherboard manual on or website shortly. Sorry for the confusion.

I cannot install Realtek drivers for my 650i motherboard. Win XP detect a HD audio device on the audio bus, but it says the realtek drivers are not the correct ones. Can someone help please?

You mean Windows device manager says the drivers are not WHQL certified?
If so you should have the option to install them anyways and they should work fine.

Make sure you use the "HD" version Realtek drivers.
