Totally possible as Nvidias Vista drivers for SLi totally BLOW.

But it's not like I could ever afford to run a dual card solution anyways........;)

Must really be a toaster oven inside the case, but I'd be willing to bet that they ran the tests on a test stand. There's not many cooling solutions out there that can keep a system like those cool let along powered. A PSU large enough to run a Cross Fire setup like that would cost as much as my entire system..............;)

I can't afford dual graphic cards either, but if its true for sli it would be reasonable to assume that 2900xt performs well in single card solution as well, at least better than the rest of the benchmarks so far show.
It could be solely a driver situation, too bad they only benchmarked dual cards.

Those new 1 gig cards with GDDR4 should improve performance by a fair amount, but SLi and CrossFire are extremely driver dependant and have to be fully optimized for the games/benchmarks, mor so than a single card solution I would think. Need to see what real world test shows us about those new cards.

I do need a new hair dryer, my old one broke last week.

Its very possible for their X-Fire to beat out SLI. Seems like ATI might be in the game where the drivers are concernd for once where as Nvidia has put a big MEH on it for right now. Kinda a shame, but MEH lol. Who wants to pay for 2 of those things? (besides you Scott, we know lol)

Ya, I just read their extremely biased comentary............:ahhhhh:But if you look at all the charts/graphs were they show the testing with AA/AF turned on, the little ole 8800GTS trashed the 2900 card "AGAIN", as it does in just about every review I've read.
You can go and point out that at some of the lower screen rez with AA/AF turned off the 2900 does fairly well, and I will admit that. But what kind of blooming fool spends all that money on a high-end card with all the options and eye candy turned off, that would be a extremely stupid thing to do in my opinion. They might as well of gone out and gotten themselves a $100 AGP card and put in a old P4 system if they are wanting that type of image quality/eye candy................:icon_tiphat: AA/AF results are what you need to be looking at with these high-end cards, not just the plain Jane results.
