As most of you already know, I just came back from 11 days trip in Slovenia and Croatia...
I totally forgot to tell you about my BAD LUCK, as soon as I arrived Slovenia.
As I just arrived on my first day, my wife asked me to take a picture of her, the first picture of our trip. So...I opened my Camera case and switched on my Canon Powershot S1 IS and...all I could see is a smeared/distorted pink image on both the LCD and EVF. :jawdrop:
Having no clue what the problem was, we rushed to Ljubljana (about 30km from where we stayed) to a Photo Shop.
The sales person said he's 100% sure something is wrong with the camera, but couldn't tell what's exactly was wrong.
I already suspected it was the CCD Unit...:frown:
So, luckily I had my GPS with me, so I asked the sales person to find for me the main Service Lab of Canon in Ljubljana.
Since it was already late, tomorrow's morning I rushed again, this time directly to the lab and the guy there observed the camera and after a few said he told me that..........he knows exactly what the problem is:
He said the CANON admitted they have a serious problem with more than 20 models of their cameras and that the CCD wiring/connection is damaged, due to exposure to high temp. But, since they admitted it their problem, I can have it fixed FOR FREE!!!
The problem was that the CCD Unit is MISSING in ALL EUROPE and he told me it'll be available in ONLY 2 months!!! :jawdrop:
So...I had no choise of buying a new Camera. I eventually ended up buying the new Canon Powershot S5 IS!!!
It cost me around 470 EURO, including 2GB SD Card. It's more expensive than in the US, but I really had no choise (OK...I could buy a much cheaper Digital Camera for around 100 EURO, but I really wanted that one ).
Anyway, I took more than 400 pictures during the trip and so far I'm very satisfied with the Camera.
When I came back to Israel, I already contacted Canon Customer Support and they told me that I can have my old S1 camera fixed FOR FREE, but I guess I'll give it to them so they can fix it only after I'll get back from my 2 weeks business trip to Belgium, which starts this coming Sunday!
Anyway, that's what I call BAD LUCK, but at least I ended up buying a new Digital Camera!!! :icon_tiphat:
