xfx 8800 gts xtreme flash to xxx?

The extreme version is listed at
560mhz
1.7ghz
1300mhz shader

xxx version is at
580
1.8
1500

is it possible to overclock the extreme version to that of the xxx without flashing the bios? For example, obviously the 580 and 1.8 memory is a super easy overclock, but how would you go about independently oc'd the shader?
Do you guys think it's safe to flash to the xxx bios knowing that these 2 cards aren't that different in speeds

The shader clock will change once the core overclock is raised to the same speed as the XXX version. The only other way to currently overclock the shaders is to modify the BIOS. It is always possible to overclock it, but more than likely your specific card may not run without artifacts at those speeds. I would suggest you make absolutely sure your card runs fully stable at the XXX speeds before you consider flashing the BIOS. More than likely the Extreme cards are a bin lower than XXX cards, so you will have beaten the odds if it overclocks stably. ;)

I've tried to OC my Xtreme editions to XXX edition but it wasn't stable at all...

What were the highest settings you were able to oc to?
Also, are you watercooling your setup?
