Laptop charges when it feels like it.

My buddy has an HP ZV5000 its about 3 years old i think and hes having problems with battery dying even though it is plugged in. I noticed that the laptop would see the AC adapter but was not getting any power from it. I was wondering if this could be caused from a bad power jack or the actual AC adapter.

Most likely the adapter, or in the cord somewhere. My laptop has a short in the actuall plugin on the laptop.

Anyone else have a say in this. I just want to make sure, don't want to buy one thing and it end up being another.

Also check to see if the battery is making full contact. Does it charge on and off when you're not touching it?

Had a problem with my sister's Dell Latitude. I think there was a problem with the connection with the battery to the laptop. Had to put it in, wiggle it a little to find the right spot, and it would be detected. But that only worked for a short while. So we just use another power adapter from another Latitude. Everything works fine now.
