tyle6
07-18-2007, 06:08 PM

Haha, I don't think he is. Last time I talked to this wierd guy from turkey, he just got into my MSN messenger somehow, and was asking info about me, but I did not answere. We just talked about random stuff, but nothing that would get me or anybody in danger.

werty316
07-18-2007, 06:50 PM
What?!?! I wouldn't even talk to anyone, especially if you got into my MSN somehow. Didn't your parent tell you not to talk to strangers?

I am starting to think if you guys would let a complete stranger into your house.

tyle6

Nope not me, and if you don't talk about anything that cunsurns you then there is nothing wrong about it, but this was the only thing I did. I know really well how to behave with strangers, and not to talk to them.

07-18-2007, 07:00 PM

tyle6
07-18-2007, 07:05 PM
and dude, seriously know who to protect yourself and machine. know how to correct the problems these people cause and not worry about it. if we are all as scared as you are of hackers they have won.

werty316
07-18-2007, 07:10 PM
Who is scared? Me? ahahaha you have to be joking.

You may think you are safe but how can you really be sure without someone actually trying ot hack you?

Hackers are the least of a persons worries in this screwed up world.

tyle6
07-18-2007, 07:23 PM
atleast we agree they are the least of our worries in the world today. i dont know im safe at all i am just saying i feel i am safe enough for now as i dont have anything really important on this machine and hope i would be able to recover from any bugs.

Yeah, you SHOULD talk to strangers. Then he or you might realize there's no need to blow each other up.

Or he'll steal your identity, even odds. :)

now guys, may i point out that most credit cards these days have a insurance policy protecting you from threats like this. you guys really are scared of this guy. just about anyone could be a hacker and could be hacking you right now.

westy87
07-19-2007, 04:43 AM
Its not about being scared, it's about being sensible. Why make it easier for them than it already is? Even if you don't have stuff on your computer your worried about them finding, it is still preferable to have them out than in. Each time a hacker succeeds, it will make him want to do it more. If he keeps failing he will likely give up

Xero (1)ne

The whole point of (true) hacking is to beat the system and to find a way to make things run better/more efficient.

Some "hackers" see security as a challenge....

Personally I think hacking and viruses and all that good stuff is healthy for the industry....without viruses Norton wouldn't get so much money ;)

But I do hate script kiddies.....Damn them....Posers....

Raptorfury
07-19-2007, 06:20 AM
myself i think norton owns half the hackers and the other half are employed by these so called spyware removing companies .. you know those companies you are now infected with such and such malware please download such and such to remove it ( and come to find out miraculous it is the ONLY one to remove it . )

you guys really are scared of this guy.No you should be, were not the one talking to him. People always ask me why i dont have a firewall, anti-virus, hacking protection ect. Why? Because i have absolutely NOTHING on my machine woth stealing. Yea, they look and i know but i dont care becasue they cant take anything from me. Dont purchase anything online so they cant take my CC # or phone # or anything.

now guys, may i point out that most credit cards these days have a insurance policy protecting you from threats like thisYea, but thats made for unintentional people who dont know it could happen, not for people talking to hackers just asking to get hacked. You act like its not a big deal, just wait till you get your identity stolen. Its not a funny game anymore.

The strange thing what i've noticed that, I was using Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2007 Internet Security some times ago & one day the PC-Cillin said me that my machine has got 112 viruses.I did a thorough scan & found that all the viruses(same type) were in a folder where PC-Cillin stores its virus database updates. :ahhhhh:I've removed the 2007 version & installed the 2006 Internet Security & for me it's the best i've used so far.

I had McAffe, Norton, and right now Nod32, and I found NOD32 to be the best in scan, caching viruses, and low memory use, and does not use a lot of CPU, almost always I have my CPU usage to 0% so. NOD32 is the best! ;-):icon_tiphat:

Haha, those are the exact same programs I use. Although I still have SpywareBlaster, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware Pro and XoftSpy. But I don't run them all the time, but I am preety secure. I just did a run this morning, and all of them did not find any treats. :)

saying you use nothing is one of the stupidest statement i have ever heard. period. no more needed to be said. anyone who thinks there browsing habits will save them alone is a moron no matter what sites you "don't" visit. Blackhat marketing in to prominant to think your safe everywhere. let alone just the fack that these things can crawl into your computer completly unannounced to you especially from malicious attacks where you are targeted after publicly stating in a hacked forum you use no forms of protection. PULLING OUT IS ALSO A GOOD WAY TO NOT GET YOUR WIFE PREGNANT TOO.

And to add to this one, there are incidents on the web, where hackers attack websites like Yahoo, Google, ABC.com, and other really famous websites, that you would think never have viruses, and add viruses, so that people who don't have a Antivirus software would think that they can't have any viruses, but on the end they have a lot. Who agrees with me on this one?

My dad once visited his best website for news, and it was attacked my a hacker, and his computer's antivirus software stoped the virus. That's why it is good to have a Antivirus software even if you are surffing on websites that you know don't have viruses.

sushrukh
07-20-2007, 09:29 PM
Ya,there are viruses than can disable the antiviruses. It happend to me once when someone did send me a PDF file. When i try to open it,Norton icon from taskbar suddenly got disappeared.I think, the guys who make viruses are more clever than some anti virus makers.PDF filles are seems to be the latest virus carriers.

thank for the tip sushrukh! i haven't expiernced any of the antivirus disabling viruses yet myself, and hope not too!! i fully agree the people righting the virus software are smarter then the antivirus companies are. otherwise these massive companies would squash there own business by making hacking and creating viruses useless... maybe they are working together. anyways, a friend of mine who runs a few websites is a prime example of why you should always have antivirus and antispyware. i dont know what the hell guys does but he seems to get his site up in top google results in some really wierd searches for his content. e.g. searching some musicians name for information on them would return his site in the top 10 results and his site is a video site that loves to toss those tracking cookies around.

Actually i didn't know that PDF files are now being used as Virus carriers and the most shocking was that the mail came from the E-Mail address of Asus_asia@asus.com.I generally have subscribed to the Asus newsletter & they regularly send me their updated newsletters in the PDF format. So, i thought, that it was from Asus but :ahhhhh: When i did try to open it online, (didn't save it in my machine though) both Norton 2007 Internet security & Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 which were running got disappeared from the taskbar.I've never seen a virus to disable two
"so called great" antiviruses simultaneously.Even i had to format & install XP because i couldn't even log-in using the safe mode.Even in my office, where they create security systems & Firewalls also got attacked by hackers. We can say that we have the most secured systems in the world but believe me,there are people who can hack into anything & anywhere. You are safe because they didn't try to break into your security yet.Otherwise,it's not a child's play to hack into our office who makes security industry standards.

And if i DID get a virus (which is unlikely, havent in about 2 years. Only some spyware here and there which im good enough to remove myself) if my hard drive crashed id just re-install. Done. Thats why its so crtical for me to have 2 hard drives. One with all my games by itself which has absoultely no access to the internet and the other which has nothing on it which can be formatted idc how many times. So, no its not stupid. Somebody hacks me, idc. What are they gonna do? I have absoultey nothing to hide and nothing to find. Now talking to a hacker that just hacked a site who is plausible for punishment, now THATS stupid.

thats wierd. you mentioned working for a security software company. maybe that has something to do with the amount of viral emails you get. and point taken PP you use other forms of security. i guess i kinda went off with that statement. i have ran a few machine with no firewalls, no antivirus just for my GF to play the sims on and such. having a machine with important info and documents on it and not using a form of sucurity would be stupid and like you said this machine idk how many time i format and theres nothing on it so let them hack away.

Yea sorta like me, got nothing on this drive and my games drive (with all the important documents and stuff) is protected by a DDO so they cant get into it through my internet drive. So i dont have to use any form of security measures at all, and the DirecGAY (Huges net) is loaded with proxies. Good luck getting into my system anyways. As to a virus or spyware nah dont get it.

I used to have AVG for anti virus and Spybot S&D for spywares.
Those 2 together are probably the best you can have.
Takes low resources and have many updates to new threats.
S&D even can warn you if any changes in your registry are made.
As far as firewall goes I don't like them.
They slow you down in online gaming.
But I don't use anything anymore.
I reinstall XP every 2 3 months and I'm not the kinda guy to have a big load of MP3s or movies stored somewhere or important stuff.
I know its not the same for everyone though but like I said I like having the cleanest windows possible and so when I need to benchmark new hardware or whatever I just reinstall windows.
Anyways i'ma install Vista soon since it now supports SLI.

Ahaha noo no no. My games drive is my Maxtor ATA133 drive. I have whats called a Dynamic Drive Overlay. You can only get into it with a seperate install of Windows and from inside that Windows you can get into any other HD but if your on another install of Windows (on another drive) Windows thinks you need to format it. So for example im on my 160gig SATA right now for internet and if i try to access the Maxtor it says i need to format it when i really dont. Clever, huh. My important files are on that drive also my games and shiz. It never sees the light of internet, period.
but like I said I like having the cleanest windows possibleSO do i, and thats why i dont use anything either. IT seems whenever i WAS a n00b and used anti-virus stuff i always wound up with more anyways. Now that i dont use protection i havent had a problem since.
