Hey guys. I'm not totally sure, but this 650i is the only recent addition to my computer and all of the other parts have been working with no flaws, so I assume it should be this mobo's problem.

Everything has been going good with the board until a few days ago. I was just browsing online and suddenly the computer started acting very weird. Programs won't load and the ones running are non-responsive. I managed to click "Shut Down," but it took forever to do it and when it did, my monitor just turned plain white(weird). Ever since then, every time I turn on my computer, the startup procedure stops at the big "XFX" logo page and won't post. I have to press reset and then the computer will start up correctly. Other problems are logging into Windows/shutting down have been very slow. Occasionally, I get an error saying "RUN DLL32 (or something like that) have stopped working."

I'm kind of pissed off since the day that this problem occurred was just the day I cut out the serial number to submit it for rebate, now I cannot do Newegg's hassle-free RMA. I really don't want to wait weeks to deal with manufacturer RMAs.

Any help is appreciated, here are my computer specs:

Vista Home Premium 32bit
XFX 650i
Pentium D 805
2gb G. Skill DDR2 800/ 2gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
Samsung Spinpoint SATAII
Samsung Spinpoint IDE
Antec Earthwatts 500W
BFG 7900GS

Thanks!

I've had the same problem. My solution has been to power down, unplug and PS and wait for about ten seconds. Then start it all back up.

From what I've read elsewhere, this is likely a BIOS problem. The most recent BIOS seems to address only Kentsfield support from what I understand.

I know this is only a work-around. But, given that it is happening to me too, I'd be more inclined to think it's a BIOS issue rather than bad board.

Hope this helps. I'd be interested to hear what XFX has to say about this....if anything is known currently.

I'm running:
XP Pro
XFX 650i
C2DUO e6320
XFX 8600 GT
PNY Optima RAM 1GB x 2
Antec True Power 500w
Seagate SATA x 2

Do you mean it is your solution to the freezing "XFX" logo screen or something else?

Actually, both. The machine starts acting quirky (slow as hell; programs stop responding, etc). You do a shutdown and upon reboot, it hangs at the XFX splash screen. It is at that point, I power down, unplug, wait, then fire when ready. After that, it boots/POSTS normally.

I've had this happen 3 or four times and I have had the board about 3 weeks. I have tried doing a restore point, uninstalling suspect programs, restoring default clock settings (I only had this thing overclocked about 10% to 2 GHz from 1.8). Nothing seems to be specifically affecting things, hence my thoughts about the BIOS.

Three weeks is about how long I've had this board installed also. I have also tried system restore and downclocking my OC(3.35 back to 2.66) and that couldn't work for me either.

Have you updated to BIOS 2.0 yet? I updated it about 2 weeks ago and it worked great and fixed many 1.0 bugs until this incident occurred. It seems like it is most likely the mobo problem since we're running different OS.

Any XFX moderators/techs can take a look at this problem? Please?

I got too happy when I found out that a new BIOS update(potential solution) was released. Updated the BIOS...problem still exists. XFX techs please help! My Tech Support Ticket # is 101139.

More weird stuff started happening to me and it got to the point to where I couldn't get past the boot/splash screen.

I had been fooling around with the S3 power settings based on an Article in Maximum PC magazine and that was the only thing really I have done differently lately (other than try to overclock). I cleared the CMOS and it still looped at boot (splash screen - reboot - splash screen - reboot, etc)

So, I reflashed the BIOS (v. 2), modified only those settings that needed it and left the rest at default...no overclock.....so far so good. Haven't even tried the latest BIOS.

I have no ticket number, but I'm eager to hear anything from XFX about this too....I have a week before I have to destroy the box to get the rebate.

Sorry for the delay as I was out. I will get somone on your ticket right away. One other quick test would be to disconnect the hard drive only have one stick of ram installed and see if the post screen passes the logo and lets you takes you to the boot failure.

XFX Tech Shannon promptly and courteously replied to my support ticket...but his response right of the bat was to tell me to RMA the board. This is my only computer and I cannot afford to wait weeks to deal with manufacturer warranties. I have not gotten a "real" response since Monday...I thoroughly described my mobo problem a second time but their second response was "Please keep us posted with your progess. Thanks." Well for now there is no progress because tech support hasn't made any or have they given me real help.
