Hey all,

Hope someone can help....I just got in the new nvidia 775 chipset board (xfx 680) and a quad core q6600.

I put the stuff together (have done this numerous times in the past with other machines), and can't get it to boot up. Power is supplied to the board, however, as soon as I plug in power to the CPU, it won't even start-up. If I disconnect the CPU power, the fans will run.

I have tried different configurations (I have a OCZ Game XStream 700 W ATX power supply with two four pin CPU power supplies in stead of one eight pin - however, they can't be reversed). I have tried only the four, or the other four pin, or both (8 pins). Nothing seems to work.

I have checked and re-checked my CPU seating - seems to be okay, doesn't appear to be any bent pins, etc.

Any suggestions, this is weird!

Thanks,

Kenny G.

have you try to assemble the system outside of the case? Try a different PSU?

Yes, tried to assemble outside of the case, same result...also, tried my older ATX PSU, a pretty good unit....no difference.

Thanks,

Sounds like it might be the board, you should open a support ticket with XFX and see what they have to say. You won't get a answer from them till next week though as they don't work weekends...............:(

Yes, thanks, I opened a ticket with xfx yesterday (#100855). Anyway, I too am concerned that it may be the board or, even worse, the CPU. Keeping my fingers crossed....going to bring it in to a shop on Monday to get it tested. In the meantime, if anyone else (i.e. xfx moderator) has any suggestions, I am all ears.

Thanks again for all the help and advice here.

Ken

Well boys and girls,

Thank you for all your suggestions and advice....had the rig tested and it was definitely the MoBo. Will be sending it back to TigerDirect for replacement....however, in the meantime, I am up and running on an Intel board....I don't really want to install Vista again when I get my xfxnForce board back....any suggestions?

Anyone interested in buying the 680i LT SLI board for cheap?

Anyway, thanks all for your help.
