I was just wondering which type of motherboard is better? The Nforce 680 one or the P35 one? Thanks

680i is Nvidia, and p35 is intel?

I am not sure, that's why I am asking if you guys have any suggestion on which one is better and why.

nvidia is the 680i chip and P35 is intel LOL. as for what one is better im no profesional but i would say its up to what your running. SLI or non SLI. the P35 is geared towards the newer processors a lil more then the 680i i believe with the true intention of 1333 FSb support. aswell we have the DDR3 issue so far no 680i chips support DDR3 as far as i know this being something to come along in the 6xx chipsets , possibly. i am by no mean the person to develop an opinion from. but theres my 2 cents. P35 is the better chipset aslong as SLI is not a factor. again just 2 cents.

Don't count me to this but I think the P35 has a bit more overclocking headroom/potential than the 680i and that the P35 runs cooler than the 680i. Both can run 1333Mhz chips and I think both can run the Penryn chips when they are out. As far as DDR3 is concerned, you shouldn't be as DDR3 prices are quite expensive and, from a gamers standpoint, DDR3 has no performance difference at this point when compared to DDR2; memory is just a small portion of a games performance anyhow.
I like the 680i chipset but if I had to choose I would most likely go with a P35 board.

From what I've read lately, the PXX series chipset are cranking higher FSB than everything out there right now, and like all Intel chipsets, no SLi, at least not yet. And the PXX are the only ones to support DDR3 right now, which isn't a big deal unless you are super rich..........:)
I might have to jump on a PXX serise board here in the near future just for OC'ing reasons, maybe.

i am goin to have to say the intel based chips are a lil better in the overclocking department . so p35 FTW . i owned a 680i , 965 and a 975 both intel chips out performed the 680i in one way or others . 975x clock for clock would smoke a 680i 965 the 965 will beat 680i and 975x in pure overclocking .( the p35 is fallowing suit with the p965 ) 680i does have a plus its memory controller is a lil better but its not enough to say thats the board ... it also gets HOTTER then a popcorn fart in july .. so if you plan on sli get the 680i . if no plans on sli i recomend stay away from the nvidia chipsets and run intel chipsets ....

No SLI? Then why bother adding two PCI-E slots on those motherboards and not have the SLI Bridge? I never seen any other product that would use PCI-E just like converting cards to SATA and suck. Do you guys know when these boards are going to be SLI compatible?

I wouldn't say that the Nvidia chipsets are all that hot, mine runs fairly cool with just a air cooler on it...........;) As to whick one is the true better OC'er, that depens on how you OC really and what type of chip you use. Lower Multis and high FSB tend to go better with intels, stock multis and as high as multi as possible is really a toss-up........;) I have yet to have a intel based CPU beat my E4300 OC (by stable standards at the [H]) and all I'm running is a basic Nvidia 650i chipset............;)

Pretty simple really, folks call 2 PCI-e slots on Intel chipsets Cross-Fire............:ahhhhh:

ah, I see, well that's sucks for me, because I have two 7900 GTs. I am currently looking for a good motherboard not too expensive maybe from around 100- 230$. Well but do you guys think it is worth it to wait a little, will there be any price drops on motherboards, or is there going to be a nforce 700 series comming out soon?

Rumors are floating around that the Intel X38 chipset will support both ATi (Cross-Fire) and Nvidia (SLI), but that still remains to be seen..............;) And you can count on them being extremely expensive as well.

As Bio-Hazard stated above, Intels X38 Chipset is rumored to be the ultimate chipset with pcie 2.0 ,dual 16X pcie, enhanced front side bus tweaking etc.
If Nvidia has given Intel the full SLI license this could be a great board for almost all ,as the options with this chipset could be quite adjustable for the user whether they choose to go sli or just a single card.
I have been putting off upgrading my system until this chipset is released supposedly sometime in August or September ? I am going to wait and see if the rumors are fact or just crap..If the rumors are true I doubt that Nvidia is going to verify this until its release as that might hurt the sales of their existing product lines.

X38 is indeed going to be expensive, I would not expect any of them to go below $230. Gigabyte has already stated they will be EOLing the P35T-DQ6 board and releasing the X38T-DQ6 board, and I believe the same is true of the DDR2 P35 and X38 versions as well.
