In speedfan since i installed my 8800GTS 'temp1' has risen from ~45 up to ~52...

Any ideas?? the cooler on the 8800 pretty much blocks the southbridge off.. so.. i think temp1 is the southbridge..

i wouldnt trust speed fan . and temp 1 might be the northbridge ..

That should be your motherboard PCB temp. In which case it sounds normal... the G80 cards radiate a great deal of heat up into the case and do heat up the motherboard much more than past cards. The sensor is likely near the middle of the board or above. Gigabyte does not have temp sensors for the chipset, unfortunately. :-?
