title says it all, got some good air flow but not extreme, im looking for long term quietness, not 3d mark runs, I wanna look for my max OC without frying sh*t up ! ( on 650i chipstet )

1.5v if you have good cooling and airflow.......;) Personally I run mine at 1.4-1.45 99.9% of the time...........;)

Max voltage + quietness often don't go hand in hand.
Bio is right with the 1.5V though Just go for max OC without voltage increase if noice is a concern.

summer in Quebec is not forgiving, so now im running 3.2 on 1.25 volts (bios) 1.22 showing in cpu-Z, all stock volts. My board made 425 fsb, but nothing is stable when I try 3.4, even played with all voltages, temps no great....im gonna wait till it cools down around here...

Or you get could an air conditioner for your room
Reno Depot had a 5200btu for $89 in their last flyer.

Air cons = major drain on the power grids + electricity bill doubling ;)

I actually have an A/C, thanx for the deal slugbug, If I see some nice quebec prices, I will share with you.
But I use the AC to keep myself cool, not my computer, with 6 hours of work and 6h of school, Im never there too long so the AC for my computer is out of the question....:coocoo:
im also gonna lap this sucker soon, temps are ridiculous, i suspect concave ihs

Quads are simply hot, a lot hotter than most people think. Lapping will help, but you'll never get a OC'd Quad really cool.

Lapping is done by "YOU" the user, it takes a lot of time to do it correctly and you can distroy your CPU if not done correctly. I haven't done a Intel before, but I've lapped all my A64's at one time or another...........;) It helps some if your IHS isn't flat, but nothing I would call earth shattering.
I think Legit Reviews has a how to on Quad lapping in the CPU forums if you want to take a look at what's involved in lapping a CPU.

The [H] also has a guide or 2 on IHS lapping, I'll look for the links next time I'm over that way............;)

Here's another guide on lapping your IHS, this one seems to be fairly good.

thanks, I actually did it this morning, I had lapped my old A64, and also practiced on old p3 with ihs. I went with 400, 600, and 800 grit paper, because making a mirror dosent make a big diff from 800 grit. I believe a true lfatness is more impportant (a piece of glass) My temps (e6600) load dropped 6 degrees @ 333x9 = 3 Ghz; running 2x orthos is 58 compared to 64 of before, And its been fired up for an hour, no as5 burn in yet. When I lapped it, it became obvious that it was concave, very happy now !!!
Ps, I still have to try to lower the voltage, its at 1.2 volts set in bios, showing 1.7 in idle with .2 vdroop on load in CPUZ :icon_tiphat:
