More info on this event can be read here: http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/ive-never-seen-anything-like-this/2007/08/02/1185648017327.html
People say there was construction going on involving jackhammers at the time of the collapse... Considering it was rush hour you would think they wouldnt do construction during that time.

When a 2005 survey of the bridge stated it was basically a piece of crap and was on the brink of falling apart, I think that is the time to fix it asap.

i was watching the news again i was hearing about how maintenance for the bridge, well not just that bridge but for many bridges, is constantly being put off setting us up for another disaster like that. Something really needs to be done.

Yeah...I just heard about the disaster on CNN when I've been in Austria...:frown: It's just horrible...and I just heard that 8 people are still missing. Hopefully they'll be found (at least their bodies...:frown:) soon...

My prayers go out to the victims and their families. I can't even imagine the pain and despair they must be feeling.
We had an overpass collapse in Laval, Quebec last year, killing 5 people. I guess it's not just our government that has the attitude of "build it and forget about it". :(
I saw this on the news yesterday and it is indeed tragic. It only makes you wonder how many other bridges are on the brink of falling apart. The city fully knew of the problem a long time ago but took the issue lightly, thats the sad part. :frown:
