This quy is absolutely correct, windows really is 'free' for a large enough percentage of people, that it stops the spread of linux.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but the next logical question is, assuming I've made some sense up to now, isn't it in ultimately in Microsoft's interest to allow pirated copies of Windows to be out there?

I thinks that Gates sad something in the line of 'piracy in china is helping windows fight linux', i am not sure where i've read that or if he really said it, so don't quote me on it, but it makes a lot of sense.

I'm a gamer and i need windows, but for regular folks that only surf the net and do some basic stuff with the computer, linux does in fact have everything covered.

Basically he is only stating the obvious, but at least he is doing it.
