Someone gave me a Thermaltake Tower 112 heatsink a few years ago, but I was afraid to use it because it's so damn big. It weighs 3lbs and I was afraid it might snap my mother board :ahhhhh:

How would this model compare to a newer heatsink such as a Tuniq Tower 120, and is it safe to install something so BIG.

I have the Thermaltake CL-P0114 Big Typhoon w/upgraded 120mm FAN.

Add your own fan to it and i'm sure that big boy can drain lots of heat.

I've got one of those sitting around the house as well, did a review on it back some time ago (April 25, 2005) for system cooling. Back in the day it did a very good job of keeping a S939 A64 cool, even OC'd. Don't have a clue as to how well it would work on a C2D though, but with the optional fan, I'm sure that it would hold it's own. ..............;) Back then folks all said that tower coolers would never catch on.

Your model is different Bio. This might be the heaviest heatsink ever made :ahhhhh:

Ahaha i have the Silent Tower and its the exact same cept yours is ALL copper. Seriously ive used this Tower for everything. Even going to be OCing my X2 here shortly with it. And no, it wont snap your board. Thats what the protection mounting plates are for. If you dont want it, ill GLADLY take it off your hands.

As long as you use a back plate with any of the large coolers, you shouldn't have a problem. Don't know how well that TT back plate will fit on a 650i board though, there might be a surface mount component or 2 that might get in the way.

It's either the Tower 112 or a Zalman 9500. I'll probably use the Zalman

I'd go for the zalman.
Its my personnal BEST of all time.
But I haven't tried the tower.
How about you try both and let us know which one is cooler?

That's what I would do, testing both wouldn't take all that much time, then you would know for sure.

I said i cant find any in STORES. The last time i saw one at Frys was about 2 years ago and never again. They sell the Sonic Tower but that is just to massive to fit in my case.

I don't think Thermaltake makes them anymore.
