hello,

i just finished putting together my pc and when I press the power button, all the fans come on, lights on the motherboard come on, the motherboard makes regular start up noises, and the fan on the video card functions also. However, there is no signal being output to my monitor, my keyboard or my mouse.

im using: XFX 680i SLI motherboard
4 GB G Skill DD2 PC-6400 ram
--i have a intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, however when i put it
in the slot, this is my first pc build im not sure if
this is normal, the door would be a little open and would
thus cause some resistence when trying to put the holding
pin down, i didnt want to bend a pin on my new cpu so i
thought i would try it with my old Pentium 4 3.4GHz
processor
--i am using my old ATI Radeon x1650 pro at the moment
--thermaltake 700w PSU

You have the LGA775 version of that CPU right ?
The Pentium 4 I mean.

I didn't want to bend a pin on my new cpu

No chance of that happening because LGA775 processors have no pins
Seriously though, I suspect the Q6600 might not have been seated properly, thus causing the problem you explained.

Do you get any error codes on the mobo LED's? Try only one stick of RAM at a time as well. Make sure you all keep in mind while the actual CPU does not have pins the motherboard CPU socket does so take care not to bend those, as I have seen many customers do just that.

the number LEDs display only "--" and there are no visibly bent pins on the socket. i tried using 1 stick of RAM in different sockets, didnt help. i tried putting video card in different PCI-E slots, didnt help. this couldnt just be a video card problem right? bc my keyboard and mouse are also not getting any signal

this is my ticket number: 105960 if that helps tech support

Double check your wiring.

I think it could be a bad mobo or CPU.

which wiring would cause a problem like this? im 100% sure the front panel wiring is correct, did it by the manual

I have seen that error code before when the 8 pin power connector was not connected to the motherboard near the CPU. Try removing that connector (or connecting if it is not connected) and reconnecting it. Same with the 24pin connector.

i reconnected both power connectors, still nothing

Then I recommend you start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and then PM me the ticket number.

This is a known manufacturing fault, some boards have a slight curvature (look down the edge of the mobo, look along the cpu side...), they will work fine on your desk, but as soon as you bolt them down inside a case, the curvature I mentioned earlier is being flexed in the opposite direction which causes some connections to be temporarliy broken.

I had this recently with an Asus P5N32-E (never touching asus again, 3x mobo in 2 months, all fubard), I sent my back as DOA.. I suggest you do the same, sooner rather than later.

The XFX 680i MoBo will plug and play with alot of(but not all) nvidia/XFX/PNY ect. cards. The problem is that your 680i LT SLI will not plug and play with an ATI card. It simply has to have drivers installed to run the card. ATI is not part of nvidia so theres no drivers for your mobo to use it. Try a 5200-7200 series PCI-e XFX/PNY/nVidia cards. those cards should be the best for your system while plug n' playin.

XFX V/GC's being the best I presume
My Mobo-Vidio card
-XFX 680i LT SLI
-PNY GF 256MB PCI-e 6200 tc (will plug & play on the 680i as well as 5200, 7200-up PCI-e PNY/XFX cards)

Its your ATI card in a nvidia/XFX board. get a 5200-6200 PNY/XFX/nVidia video card.
the board does not have drivers for ATI cards, PNY/XFX/nvidia cards to get the best compatibility

You can use ATi cards on nForce boards.

I had the same problem. with the same board

I tested the mobo w/o the cpu fan and mount, and got the video. long story short, I diagnosed the problem to the mounting bracket on the bottom of the board for the cpu cooler fan.

here's how I fixed the problem:
I used a dremel to cut out the individual screwholes of the bracket and used them to secure the cpu fan on. problem fixed. got video signal. Good luck!

I had this exact same problem. Returned the mother board. Replacement worked fine.
