i read an article that in the U.S. that's the average speed and in japan they get up to 61 mbps. wow

i use cox cable, i'm wondering if there's anyway of getting my speed up to the 2 mpbs or higher.

What payment plan are you on. That seems very low for cable speed unless you are on the 19.99 or 29.99 a month type of plan.

Time Warners Internet is Road Runner which is what I use. Pretty good to me. But I also have a complete package from them with all the movie channels and a DVR-Box. I am getting 12 down and 1.2 up for 65.00 a month.

But I have 3 kids and a wife so I need all the bandwidth I can get.

well, this is what i'm probably gonna do. since i have a contract with cox i'm gonna go ahead and get the 12mbps plan for $56. and after that probably switch to road runner. my co worker uses that as well. heard some good news from him too. thanks for the comments

btw is there any hardware upgrades needed to up that speed? or my cable modem and ethernet cable is good enough.

wait a minute $65 with the movies, damn cox is charging 56 just for cable to go up to 12mbps.

No that 65 is just the internet part.

Cablevision is pretty decent.

15 mbs down
2 mbs up
$44.95 monthly

They block port 80 if you wanted to host your own server. No big deal with DDNS ,Apache, and port forward workaround.

Personally I usually get about 500-700 KB/s downloads. Max ever was 1.5 MB/s.

P.S. I had to upgrade my router as I had an older 10Mbs Linksys. Grabbed a 10/100 Mbs D-Link and I was good to go

I pay $65 a month for 10mbit down/1mbit up. I get very close to those speeds.
