I just got myself a XFX 650I Ultra and paired it up with a Mystique 632. I'm currently using the stock fans and I got them plugged to the two bottom 3 pin fan connectors of the motherboards. I think they are labelled as System Fan and Chassis Fan. In the bios, I seem to be only able to monitor the RPM of the Chassis Fan. With the dynamic fan control, I am only able to throttle the fan speed from 1250 PRM to 1100 RPM when putting the Chassis Fan Speeds to 1%.

Is these issues normal? :ahhhhh:

Welcome Zenphic.Good to see you here & i hope you'll get a proper explanation to this from a peoper person.

Thanks for the welcome mate. :)

I heard that this was a common problem with the motherboard, like you can't control the speeds of the fans connected to the motherboards. Hopefully there's a fix or an update for this...

I never got that far with my XFX 650i so I don't know if that's normal or not. That should be fixable with a future bios update though.

Yup, hopefully it will, but the idea of updating the bios freaks me out. I wouldn't want my PC to not post after the update... anyway here are some users on the EVGA forum (http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=77880&mpage=1&key=) that complained about the bad fan controlling. Come on, release a new bios! :frown:

Well, my 680i SE's "Chassis fan 2" doesn't have fan control options, even though it shows up in bios, even after the P30 bios update. I think it's faulty, but I don't want to RMA for a fan header, i think I'll wait untill my warranty is almost up, then I'll RMA if it hasn't been fixed. But the faulty fan header is fine for me, because if I want to turn down the fan, I just pull out the cable, and voila the fan is off. otherwise, i just plug it into the "CPU VREG" fan socket... works fine for me. Tell me if I'm breakin my mobo by plugging it into the VREG slot though.

Hm, nvm I guess.

[DANIEL_E - 08/30/2007] Hi, the fan control is a hardware feature so the headers that do not have support for the adjustable fan speed will never be able to have a adjustable fan speed. If you have any other questions please let us know. Daniel
So, the fan headers will basically never be able to control fan speeds. I guess I should have just gone with an Asus motherboard with Q-fan or one that advertised as being able to control fan speeds. I figured it was a standard feature nowadays...

So did I. I'll just be happy to get my board back and get my new rig up and running.

Hopefully your RMA is being processed atm and the product being shipped back shorty. As for me, I guess I'll have to consider a 5 1/2" fan controller or some Zalman Fanmates II on my next purchase on NCIX. Cheers
