View Full Version : NO Post error code 25
OK I had my new system running great fro a month now on vista 64
bit. cleared some old windows files from an old Xp installation did a restart, and the computer just never came back up. there's no post and I am showing an error code 25..... Help the system seems to powerup just fine and No bios changes were made or anything like that.
I was just getting ready to take this system off the work bench and give it to my wife :frown:
Followup: Cleared the cmos by removing the battery & power cord, then it posted & loaded into vista OK
did a restart, no post error code 25 again on the restart
After 3 clearings of the Cmos I was finally able to get it to boot, & post I managed to restore the bios back to B28 which is what I had been
running perviously, and it has now started about Half a dozen times ok with the proper posting.... Still have absolutely no clue as to what Happened to make it go off the wall though but it seems to be back to normal for now :jawdrop:..... Fingers crossed for now.

What does the manual say that the error is?
Check to see if there is a bios revision for the mobo and flash it if you feel comfortable with it.
Do you know the temps on your board? Overheating can always cause problems. :ahhhhh:

That is an odd one, and for those of you that dont know, many of the post error codes are a little confusing to put it nicely. But either way I am glad to see your system working correctly now.
Well Its not now, Iam at a total loos as to WTF is going on now.
It worked fine for a couple of days then I moved it upstairs to turn it over to the wife, it booted fine loaded vista fine she did a restart, error cod 25 no post...... ahhhg. clear Cmos load defaults loaded into vista OK, Shut down Power back up into vista OK shut down . cold reboot error 25 no post, clear Cmos cold restart works twice on the default bios, go to reinstall P28 from floppy no post error 25 :help::help: havent got a clue whats up with this puppy now but its sure seems like on sick little child that can't find its brain.
at this point it appears to happen olny when you do a restart for the desktop, if you do a complete shutdown and then cold reboot it seem to be ok any idea's appreciated.

Just a thought, but try using a different power supply if you can.
Try replacing the battery that came with the motherboard (the silver button-battery). I've had BIOS errors come from a bad battery before.
OK I will give that a try, What Iam suspisious of and I know it might sound Nuts, but I didn't have any issues until I installed a Micosoft wireless
deck top set with vista drivers from MS on Thurs night. So I switched back to the corded Keyboard & mouse & I am going to
try that for a couple of days and see if I have any more issues, If I don't have any the I might try the wireless desktop reinstall.
I think it's possible I am getting a halt on keyboard error stopping it from booting every time wierd but I am trying every straw Now, I even pulled all the ram & cards and reseated everything.
OK so I am pretty sure I found the problem,,,,, It was the MS Cordless
desktop set the 6000 laser model.. it appears that it doesn't respond fast enough during a restart bootup causing the boot process to stop & hang. It must be somewhat quicker to respond from a cold boot situation, I guess. IT's been absolutely fine since I put it back on the wired keyboard & mouse, No issues at all through countless restarts & reboots.
Knew I should Have bought the Loitech LOL
This has been confirmed when switched to a wired keyboard & mouse the problem dissapeared compleately, switched to a Logitech wireless set and its been fine for more then a week.

FYI, Post Code 25 can be something as simple as having your keyboard plugged into your mouse port. (learned from experience--woops!)
