Sorry if this is old news. Didn't see it posted anywhere else here on the forums.

That's pretty much a dream machine. Too bad the first phenoms won't be clocked near 3ghz but probably closer to 2ghz. At least they are almost here.

Doesn't feel like motherboards last too long. Wish they would last longer. I'm sort of confused with the AM2, AM2+ (if it exists), and AM3. What cpu is compatible with which?
Is Phenom AM3 only?

K8 works in AM2. Phenom works in AM2 sockets but it's full potential can only be had in AM2+ boards due to HT differences and the split power plane Barcelona makes use of to clock the memory controller higher.
AM3 won't be seen until the second half of 2008 with the launch of 45nm CPUs. http://images.dailytech.com/nimage/5267_large_starsgen2.png (http://images.dailytech.com/nimage/5267_large_starsgen2.png)

I am looking forward to these coming out. I am not buying any new hardware until they do. I am just getting my water cooling stuff set up in the case that will hold it all. So that all i need will be the water block for the CPU.

Thanks for the clarification and the nice little .png too! I was actually hoping someone would post a timeline picture up.
