View Full Version : Banning

Some issues have come up lately with folks and some banning that has happened.

I reserve the right to ban anyone that I want. Usually to get banned you must be causing problems on the site with other readers or spamming the site. I also have the right to delete any post that I do not feel helps the site out.

The above cases have happened but not very often. But as the person that owns the site it is my right and my staffs right to moderate the site by my guidelines. As the site grows I can see more moderating needing to happen more. Hopefully people will follow the site rules but some don't.

Have a nice day.

Scott

You guys have always run a nice forum and kept it pleasant. You need to do what you feel is needed to keep it that way. Remove the problems from your forum and don't look back.

We have been having a terrible time at our site as well. Popularity will unfortunately attract a bad element and create the need for stricter moderation. Ours has gotten so bad the guy I cofounded it with will not even visit it anymore. We locked new registrations and have begun banning those that are there to create trouble. I think you are right to nip it as early as possible to save the enjoy for other else you could end up with the Romper Room we are having to deal with. If I could figure out how to beat proxies we could possibly open registrations again, but I think instead we will have to wait until the problems find another forum to haunt then open up for worthwhile posters.

Of course you need to expect to be the bad guy. I've been called about everything like Adolf Hitler, Satan and power hungry for not letting the kids have their way on our site.

Good luck!

Like gibson said, what ever it takes to make a better environment for the general forum public. I'm sure no ban's are unfounded and are made solely on spite. And since I saw the post after before it got deleted, if you have to ask whether this is about you or not first think about it. If you feel yes then ya probably but if you feel you have been acting well and its not about you then probably not.

I didn't notice anything strange or annoying anywhere. But then again I don't read through all of the threads all the time. If somebody got banned from this site he was most likely asking for it and deserved it, cause this is only the second banning since i'm a regular here.

really ! I mean, who got banned and why ?

Guess you has to be there when it was going down.

Free speech is one thing and running your mouth is a different thing altogether. I wish people would learn the difference. This is a privet place open to the public. You can only say what is acceptable to the owner. Don't like that don't use the Forums.

Scott, never mind what other people/users/members/etc. are saying/doing/etc. It is YOUR site to run as you see fit. If the are people who would challenge that, then you do what you have to do, simple as that. 8) Rules are put in place for reason. Break'em and you suffer the consequences.

Plain and simple if you don't learn, you'll get "ownd" by the "man" and any further and/or constant annoyances only fuel the fire for this.

This forum along with other forums are a community for discussion and any complaining isn't called for no matter what the issue is.

posting on bjorn is a privilege not a right.
I mean would you barge in a cigar club and start complaining that people smoke cigars in the place.

This is one of the most lenient sites I've ever been associated with and to date I've only seen SPAMMERS permanently banned. As the site continues to grow the time will come that considerably more moderation of events will be necessary to keep the theme for this forum in tack that Scott and Bjorn have established. Unfortunately that's one of the bad things about a site getting larger.

I don't think even those that have been in trouble here have any room to complain, at most other comparable large sites they would have been banned immediately and permanently with no questions asked or explanations given.

Frankly I don't see the reasoning for complaining in the first place.

To be honest if Scott bans someone, I feel it is probably deserved. Cause as Miles said, this place is pretty lenient and you would have to really go over the limit to get the axe here.

I don't know either, but I agree the person had to step way out of line to get the boot at a pretty laid back forum like here.

I would certainly vote for having moderator/s who can judge every user's post & decide which is right & wrong.I feel very lonely in this forum & there's people who still is trying to get me into trouble over nothing. So, i would also need some more moderating who can judge everything fairly so that we all can live happily here.Just my 2 cents though. ;-)

If you are having trouble Shush you can come to any of the B3D staff. If the issue is beyond our ability to handle then Scott will be notified.

Misunderstandings aside, as long as you're following the rules and having a good time then no one can get you in trouble since there is no trouble to be had.

I respect him a lot Tomato but as he has said, i'm scared of him to tell everything because he has got many stuffz to look at & he has a huge responsibility upon him.So, i don't want to bother him about my problems. :icon_tiphat:

I'll certainly not tolerate if people try to call me beggar or poor & I've joined Bj3d for earning contest prize/money for my family.Self respect is the ultimate thing for me.

EDIT :- PM sent to Gonz.

The closest I got to being banned I think was when I got an email back from the staff after asking why my registration didn't go through. They said there was an error where it said I was banned. Imagine that, banned before joining!

Seriously though I hope that all continues to go as well as it has here, there are MUCH worse forums out there technical or not. I find if you get caught up in arguments that are too stressfull you can always use the ignore feature, which many forums don't have. "Time wounds all heels" as John Lennon said.

I have had that on several forums where it says my email was banned. I was like WTF! the 1st time, then after that i was like oh this again *emails admins*

The only persons that can ban people are Scott, Miles and me. If someone feels they are banned wrongly by me, Miles or Scott, all you have to do is to contact us (the Contact Us feature work even if you are banned) and we look it over.

And trust me, I have no problems go head-to-head with Scott if I feel he has done something wrong :).

As been said here in the thread, you can always contact any of us in the B3D staff if you have thoughts, complainst etc. you can also use the button to report a post to an admin and then include a good description why you want to report the user/post. When you do this a post is created in a hidden forum where we then will look it over and, if needed, discuss it.

In addition to regualr banning we can also issue yellow/red cards and give you infraction points. That way you get a warning that we have our eyes on you.

However - as Miles have said. We are really leenient on this forum, trying only to ban spammers.

Yeah Nocutius, that's right but posting unneccssary comments in a sticky thread too can be considered spamming as far as i know. This thread is only for those who may need help from the admins or stuffs.

I don't think he meant to span and you don't have to be so "hard" with him. And beside that you also "revived" a "dead thread" more than once ...(and even me...). There's nothing wrong in reviving an old thread from time to time...as long as you stay on topic, so...BACK TO TOPIC! ;-)

I was not being hard on him or like that. Why should i ? I was actually suggesting him to post relevant matters for his own sake.Werty has also warned him if you've not seen already.Sorry, i didn't know what i did wrong in that & i've even said that i'm his well wisher.Yes, i've also revived two threads because i needed to update my score on those two benchies.Back on topic. :)

You guys should create a new forum OS, so that when you ban someone a giant ban hammer pops up on their screen and smacks the screen and has Banned labeled on the screen when they log in.
