Hello,

I got my XFX board all set up, with its q6600.. however, when i press the power switch the fans speed up but then they stop and the whole motherboard stop, and only the blue LED remains..

Also, a small bit of smoke came from the motherboard which I think is from a bit of plastic laying near the battery thing.. but I think it may also be a deeper problem than that..

Can anyone help me?

Do you mean 650i Ultra or 680i LT? Regardless it sounds like you got a bad board.

Smoke normally means that something shorted out, not a good sign. Open a support ticket over at XFX web site and see what they have to say.

Ouch, that is bad news robj. I'm afraid that I must concur with the others and say that your mobo is now useless. Time for an RMA :(

Letting the smoke out is a good sign that something quit so a RMA is required.

I truely hope the smoke wasn't caused by a crossed wire on a onboard connector that you hooked up, that may cause you some problems during the RMA process.
