Try bench testing the board out of the case with just a single stick of ram, cpu and video card.
Touch the two red power pins with a small screwdriver to power it on.
If that doesn't work the chances are the board is bad.

Another potential bad 650i mobo by 3 members of this board? How likely is that...? Might be time for XFX to run some quality assurance tests :?

I agree to try and set up the board outside the case. Do any of the lights or fans come on? Both the 24pin and 8 pin connectors been reconnected to ensure a good connection? Also start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and let me know the number.

i tried it outside the case, and everything

fans/gpu fan, everything turns on. i connected everything, although there is no 8 pin, only a 4 pin in the top left cornor.

The 650i has a 4 pin connector not an 8 pin. The manual says 8 pin though.

so xfx support, whats going to happen now?

are you going ot mail me the shipping label? i can have it picked up anytime, i just dont want to have to pay anything

slugbug

Well good luck with that. My board was defective out of the box and I had to pay. I asked for a refund and was quoted the rules from their website. In my opinion that rule should not apply for situations like ours. I sent a message to the rep here and it was never replied to.

I had to pay for my return shipping as well, I don't think that you're going to get around it, but good luck trying and I hope that you get something out of it.

Any updates on your board darkorb?

darkorb
09-29-2007, 02:37 AM
Yea, fedex picked it up yesterday actually. The shipping was paid for by XFX (thanks alot) and yes my board too was also DOA.

I hope this problem gets resolved quickly, and not another DOA!

WTH? XFX flat out refused to reimburse my shipping charges when I asked. I PM'd the rep here about it and he never replied. Not cool :(

XFX have you received the motherboard yet?

Any verdict?

I am out of the office at the moment, but when I get back early tomorrow if it has not been tested and taken care of, I will ensure it is.

After getting the replacement board, the problem still stands. The thing just won't effin boot.

We have tried 2 psu's, 2 differne processors, 2 differen ram's, tried inside and out of the case, 2 different graphics cards, multiple monitors. and nothing

no beep, no nothing

i have no idea why this isnt working, we thought maybe the backplate on the Heatsink was messing it up, so we tried without that too, and no go. this things just wont ****ing boot.

I am betting the chipset core is cracked as these board with this style of heatsink are quite fragile. I can tell from personal experience taht unless you want to spend more money RMA'ing it several times I would get a refund, if you can, and get another board instead of living with the headache.

Whats retarded is when i sent the board back, (xfx paid for the shipping) they said that the board was working fine. i seriously doubt this, cuz we tried everything and the board did nothing, no boot, no nothing

werty316
10-20-2007, 05:33 AM
they said that the board was working fine.

Quite odd this is...

Unless you have done so already you should have requested that XFX test the replacement board before they sent it to you. Thats what I did when NCIX shipped out my replacement board 650i-Ultra.

I hope your luck improves for the better down the road.

i dont no what else to try

i dont wana have to RMA this board again.

iv tired 2 PSU's, Orion 450watt, and a Antec True Power II 550Watt. P4 517 2.93ghz and a PD 3.2ghz, 1gb Corsair DDR2 667 and DDR2 533 Ram. In the case and outside the case, tried it with and without the CPU Heatsink backplate. tried a 6800gt and a 6600gt. also tried with no CPU / RAM / Gfx card to see if we wuld hear any beeps. nothing

Let me team with my motherboard guys and see what I can do for ya.

darkorb
10-23-2007, 01:26 AM
the guy said to try grounding it and try removing the front io connector and boot the mobo manually.

iv tried it in a case, but how do i boot the board manually?

xfxsupport
10-23-2007, 01:40 AM
You can do that by jumpering the two power pins that the case button connects to.

A screw drivers helps in this situation.

Ouch. A multitude of dead mobos :( Hopefully XFX will solve this problem soon :?

xfxsupport
10-25-2007, 12:49 AM
You should be contacted shortly to resolve this situation, but keep in mind your motherboard worked properly when it arrived here, but was replaced anyway to help out. If the next motherboard has the same issue (three mobos with same issue) then it may be something else contributing to the problem.

darkorb
10-25-2007, 01:01 AM
Yea thanks alot. I honestly have no idea, we've tried everything. Parts from my friends 775 working RIG was all put into the MOBO and yet it still did not boot.

I just got a call from the XFX guys on my cell, surprised me alot actually haha, and they wanted to do a cross-shipment which is sweet. Except i have no credit card, but i really appreciate it. Good custoemr support.

I feel bad about havin a 3rd board sent to me, but honestly everything iv done should have worked. Troubleshooting and such.

Thanks alot XFX, you guys are great (except the mobo issues :P )

10-27-2007, 02:42 PM
hehe funny you say XFX has called you too.
They called me too at one time.
It was Bryan I believe.
Really nice guy, I was at the bathroom when my GF passed me the phone.
Was a little embarassing but I think Bryan found it funny...
He asked me if I was in front of my computer, so I told him erm... well im on the bowl can you hold on a minute :p
Fun times fun times....

xfxsupport, (shannon) in the ticket i am being thrown around to so many different departments. i have no idea whats going on.

i have a question

1. can i use the fedex account number to send the motherboard back to you? i already sent the first one with it. I just want a simple answer. Yes (cuz i already was allowed to use it) or no (for some strange reason)

Shannon could you please take a look at the ticket?
