View Full Version : Barcelona's kicking major butt!

Benchmarks are in and AMD is looking good. Can't wait for public release! I'm definitely getting a phenom when they come out.
Power consumption wise, AMD kills Intel. While they still don't have the complete edge in performance, I do see major potential once higher clocked versions of the barcelona hit the market. Especially if they can still keep the power consumption low.

Hopefully this will transmit itself to the desktop well. The article does express a small doubt on that part. I would very much like to see AMD succeed with this one, but i wonder how will Intels next offering compare. I will probably replace mobo+cpu in a couple of months (december/january) and i am very much interested about how this unfolds.

I could care less about power levels, performance is where it counts, we'll see just what they can do when they hit the streets for real and just exactly how well they perform and OC.

The Phenoms on the other hand, well i want to see how fast these buggers can get.

I think that what I just said...............;)

I just hope that they are low power.
I know that at the State offices I worked at this summer the only concern for servers is that if they expanded, they would have to put in more air conditioners, but there are no more room for the back-up batteries to power the additional air conditioners.
Quad cores would be nice, but hopefully they will be "cool" enough for them to be implemented.

For servers, they will be cool enough. THats what AMD is all about. Now your Desktop Phenom CPUs are probably gonna be a different story.

I wanna see some performance and OC'ing stats.
