Look what I've found. :jawdrop: This is genious!!!

Before you flush the toilet, you might want to check the power level in your batteries. You could be flushing away a free source of energy. In 2005, Scientists in Singapore developed a battery powered by urine. The Scientists were able to produce electric power using liquid as a catalyst thanks to a special mixture of magnesium and carbon inside the batteries.
Now, a Japanese company has brought this urine powered battery technology to market with the NoPoPo (Non-Pollution Power) Aqua Batteries. Just use the included plastic pipette to inject urine into the battery chamber. Grossed out by pee? You can also use other types of liquid including beer, apple juice, cola, and saliva and of course urine. When I first heard about the NoPoPo, I thought it might be a joke. Making silly inventions is a popular hobby in Japan called Chingdogu (http://www.methodshop.com/games/play/chingdogu/index.shtml). But the NoPoPo is no joke.
A single urine powered AA battery can power a flashlight for about 20 hours (500 milliamp-hours). Not exactly the most powerful battery on the shelf, but it’s a great start for this environmentally friendly energy technology. The NoPoPo aqua powered batteries are currently only available in both AA and AAA sizes, but the company has future plans to produce all common battery sizes.
Off the top of my head, here are just a few reasons why you should love the NoPoPo:

used batteries contain mercury and are bad for the environment
using your own body fluids to power batteries will save you money
it’s a reliable source of power for life saving tools like flashlights and radios
people who live in remote areas and don’t have access to fresh batteries can now use battery powered gadgets and technology

Now that is one of the nastiest thing i have ever seen. Well maybe because i am thinking like this.

Guy1: Dam my batteries are low
Guy2: you can borrow mine
Guy1: thanks
Guy2: Oh ya you should wash your hands i spilled my pee all over it while trying to fill it. There harder to fill then ink cartridges.

Did they call it NoPoPo to remind people which bodily function NOT to use

Hehehe...I'm glad you find it funny guys!

I find it VERY FUNNY as well, but now seriously, I think it's a great invention, as you can use different kinds of liquids to fill it up and/or charge it , and...urine is one of them...;-)

well at least crap is free...

Not exactly.... You do have to eat to create a considerable amount of crap lol.

Oh, I can imagine some genius selling "high performance crap" for cars in the future

LOL
Crap in = crap out

High performance crap for the craptastic performance you need

The Driver seat will be a toilet bowl and the accelerator will be the flush handle.

NOS will no longer be used as it will be replaced by high octane farts.

I think its been invented already my car feels like its running on crap. I am afraid of not even being able to make it across town.

Wow, the inventor of this type of battery had WAAAAAY too much time on their hands :P ;) Very unique, but how could you successfully market such a thing? :?

I'd urinate in a Hybrid. I'm not above that.

Finally we have a good reason to drink and drive.

BTW, not too long ago there was an invention where this guy found out that with radiation you can burn Salt-Water. Which means that maybe in the future cars or machines could be fueled with Salt-water.

Blue Moon Dragon

well, but you would have to find a safe way of harnessing the radiation....if you just put a block of uranium in the engine, that might be unsafe...

Or better yet. Just run it on water.
I think this has been posted here before but for those that have not seen it.

that would be cool, but it would cause a bunch of droughts...I mean, humans are already using up a bunch of water just for drinking and such. If we used it as fuel, we would need 24/7 heavy rain to sustain the natural water supply. :jawdrop: It is a good idea, though, and if it could be done w/out completely drying up Earth, that would be ginormously cool...

=CDU=Above
09-23-2007, 02:02 AM
The earth wouldn't dry up. Water can be made from anything. You can make it in your own backyard. It drops from the sky for god's sake.

I don't care how ya slice it, it's more readily available to use than any other fuel that we use today...for anything.

Well, except sailboat fuel of course.

Blue Moon Dragon

yes, it is very common, but still. if everybody used up water like that, it would cause large droughts if heavy rain fall 24/7.

What's next? Cars that run on crap? This reminds me of Me Myself and Irene. "Get your **** outa my gas hole!!"

And sorry guys, water is like mass. It will never go away. It will just go to different parts of the world ect. The water cycle is endless. How long where steam engines used?

I think the best way to sell these things is to come up with a good, clever name.

East european automakers already are in a leadership position on this. Need to get somewhere but you can't afford the gas? Don't buy a Yugo... Just ride your YuGOTTAgo! Because when Yugottago, You got to go!!!

Also people will think it's much more hi-tech and better to pick up chicks if they can say they use urinium-powered batteries... :)

Anyway, the water in that video is NOT used up. As far as I can tell (wow, I haven't been to chem classes in half my life! :( ) he uses electrolysis to break down H2O into H and **. The blue flame is hydrogen burning - oxydizing - which means it's recombining into H2O. You don't lose the water, you just spent a whole lot of electricity to generate some heat, the water was the medium to transmit the heat, basically.

So unless he came up with a way to make the breakdown of H2O cost less energy than what's generated by the bruning back to H2O - something impossible according to current knowledge - he just made an overly complex electric car.

WOW!!! I'm impressed that this thread I opened already reached three pages and is such a success

It surprises me that these "Urine Powered Batteries" interest so many people...or to be more accurate, it makes everyone laugh...;-)

it actually doesn`t make me laugh and I think it a great idea.
I mean its urine but its still power.
I would mind using them kind of batteries in a few things in my house.

If I could only get these batteries, I would definitely buy some to use in my house...abd come on, you don't really need urine to power them up, you can always use WATER. ;-)

Too bad they're sold only in Japan at the moment, which means I'll have to arrange myself a business trip to Japan...

I think the best way to sell these things is to come up with a good, clever name.

here are some i came up with:

Dura-Piss: Pissing everywhere...(although they probably would not want to use that name for the Air-Ambulance commercial)

Pisserizer: Pissing, and Pissing, and Pissing, and....

Pissasonic: (whatever Panasonic's tagline is)

Well this is a cool invention but at what cost? You have to take the time to pee in them. I don't know about you but I am pretty content in just putting my batteries in a charger. I find it funny but at the same time will give them credit for thinking outside the box and into the bowl...lol

PP Mguire
10-05-2007, 11:07 AM
You can pour water in them too. Which is alot cheaper than the price for a charger and its batteries.

Blue Moon Dragon
10-07-2007, 08:58 PM
true...it would be cool if they came up w/ some contraption for putting the batteries into the tank at the back of the toilet, so that whenever you pee, some goes into the batteries and the rest goes into...well, wherever its supposed to go...that would be slightly disgusting, though, taking the batteries out of the toilet everytime...
