Not really... Whether I bought a quad now or later I'd still run the risks of getting a "bad apple" when it comes to OCing. I've seen these same posts with Q6600 G0's, infact one XS member had his up to 4GHz on air, and frankly I don't think they mean much of anything these days except as a ballpark figure at best. My Q6600 G0 came with a highly specialized defect, it will generate specific errors in some programs at or above a 400FSB... even at 6 x 400FSB = 2.4GHz, which is stock.

Yorkfield doesn't even launch until November 12th with widespread availability set for January, no point in waiting four months just for a slightly better Quad. Especially with Nehalem due later that year and much worth the upgrade.

I cannot wait for these to come out, that way we can see what they can do, not just what a possibly cherry picked one is capable of.

Well I am glad I am saving my money, instead of buying a quad when they dropped to ~$266.

Well, there won't be any Nehalem cores in my future anytime soon, there's no way I could ever afford a new MoBo, memory and CPU all at one time. A Yorkfield will more than likely be my last upgrade for some time to come and I'm going to have to make the best of it.........;) I'm not in any sort of a hurry to get anything right now CPU wise as what I now have is more than enough.
What other folks get on their OC's I always take with a grain of salt, after all this is the net and there are a ton of stories out there and I don't trust a good 90% of what I read, the numbers are way to easy to fake, I just use them as a general guide sort of...........:)
