I just dowloaded the console version client again (the one you guys linked to in the FAQ) and I set it up and it's not registering me as part of the team. I put in everything correctly and despite my attempts to get myself registered, it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to register RC18MT as my username.

This is the second time I tried and I can't get it to work. :frown:

You have to finish a work unit for it to work, have you done that?

Using team 41608 right?

Yes I'm using team #41608. I don't know if I finished a WU though. I have been running it for about 1-2hrs now and it says

"completed 300,000 out of 5,000,000 steps <6>"

Do I have to complete the 5,000,000 steps to complete one WU?

I suggest setting up multiple machines at this point. I don't know your specs but 15 in 10 days is iffy on some computers. Anyways wish you the best of luck!

X2 5200+ @ 2.6Ghz
4GB's PC2 5300 @ 533Mhz RAM
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB superclocked card
WD Caviar SE 250GB HDD
Antec Truepower Trio 550W PSU
NZXT Zero case

That's pretty much it. It's a decent performer. I finish 50K steps every 20 minutes flat. That's 3 steps an hour. There's 100 steps in each WU (I'm assuming since the one I'm working on is 5,000,000 and each step I finish is 50k.) I'm letting it use 50% of my cpu power.

I dont know what's the best configuration, any suggestions?

At that rate it would take you roughly 33 hours to finish a work unit of 5 million steps. So theoretically doubling the cpu usage would half the hours taken to do a work unit. Just to be safe I would use 100% just cause when your doing cpu demanding processes FAH lowers its usage and you need to get 15 wu as fast as possible.

264 hours left / 16.5 hours per wu = 16 WU
264 hours left / 33 hours per wu = 8 WU

And that 16.5 is theoretical since your computer won't always be on and fah operating at 100% load. Also WU sizes could be less or more.

Do you have one console client running or two. That 50% means 50% of one core, not the whole processor, at least i think so.
So you can easily set it to 100%, and it doesn't slow your rig down, even during gaming, cause it only uses free cpu cycles. And if you seriously wish to complete enough WUs you should probably have two instances running, one for each core.

Cool, I'll set it to 100%. I left my computer on for a while and when it idles and I'm not doing anything on my computer, I do a step about every 18 minutes. I'm pretty sure I could get it down to 8-10 minutes per step during idle.
