that is going to be one hell of a motherboard though LOL

This is all rather moot.
This is just an expensive intel platform that will be beaten every which way (except in rendering or video/audio stuff) by Nvidia's platform.
What the heck will 8-cores do for you that 4 cant AT THIS POINT?
I look at like this. Say each Core of a CPU is a beautiful woman. You can make the most out of enjoying one at a time. Heck even Dual-babes makes sense. But 4 babes becomes silly and try utilizing 8 woman at once and you will waste so much money on jewelry errrr I mean electricity.
It seem like the bragging rights of 8 wome....cores is all this comes down to. Calling it an ULTRA high end gaming machine is ridiculous at this point. Gimmie a Nvidia 7 series and I'll be happy.
Bah, who's going to pay that much for such a thing. There's nothing out game wise to stress out current medium-high end hardware yet to go all out and buy something of that nature. Plus being "future proof" for too long can get boring. I like to change hardware often in my rig.

Listen to him. He obviously knows what he's talking about :).
Yea that thing is totally unnecessary. I don't even need sli, why would i care about dual cpu.

About the only thing that it would be useful for.
Right now a gaming rig has no need for that much power unless you want it to last you a long long while. ;-)
I think that having multiple cores is becoming too much of a fashion. We need to stop adding cores and start doing more with the ones we have.
Now that I think about it, that would be an insane folding box.

right now, an amazing gaming rig, AMD 4000+ OC'D, or any dual core OC'd, anda 8800GTS/GTX and your set!
No need for quads at 6ghz, but i wouldnt mind having one XD

Looks like a killer motherboard. I know that 8 cores would not be used by most of the programs, but in the future it will be. Folding would be insane on it, and Video editing, design and animation for rendering would be excellent on it. I just can't imagine the rendering speeds on that computer. :jawdrop:

Like westy said, that would get INSANELY hot...i mean you combine that w/ good memories and good video card(s), and your computer becomes an oven...i would probably get 2 watercooling systems for that kind of hardware, eh peti?

Yup here is one with 2 water cooling systems in it. To me this is definitely overkill and I would wait about 5 years for prices to come down and the rig being the norm with newer aftermarket parts to play with. This is definitely an ePenis....lol. It should be dubbed that actually! I christen thee the ePenis...Whack!
