Okay, this is a question for you audio guys. I have a craptastic 6 year old dell 8200. My ipod headphones are dying, and the volume in the right is really low, and the left speaker has loud sound, when it works. I havent had time to go out to the apple store and get a new pair, or even a different pair of headphones. My question is this: is there a program on Windows XP where I can boost the master sound? right now, the headphones are almost inaudible.
Thanks!

EDIT: Whoops, wrong forum. if a mod could move this thread to video & audio that would be cool. Thanks.

Yes there are programs to make audio louder however I find these to seriously degrade audio quality.

You can pickup a headphones amplifier from Radio Shack for ~$20.

I would say just get new headphones. If your not looking for for anything special a set of nice $20 earbuds will do you fine and last you longer than any Apple earbuds. :icon_tiphat:

just get new headphones

You'll notice the difference of quality headphones/buds over the iPod pair in an instant.

Don't get ear buds. They are directly linked to hearing loss. Get over the ear headphones even though they may not look as cool they will save your hearing.

The only correlation of ear buds to greater risk of hearing loss relates to the fully sealing, fitted ear buds like the ones Secret Service personnel use, and even those are vented to atmosphere and volume regulated anymore. Fitted ear buds, or any that seal your ear canal from atmospheric, can produce additional pressure shocks to your eardrum, but high volume is high volume.

Find headphones with a 38mm-40mm or larger driver.

Who says that over-ear headphones aren't cool? ;-)

I walk around school with my 5.1 Zalmans all the time. The teachers don't like it though. :ahhhhh:
