View Full Version : 680i lt
Hey everyone. I have 2 XFX 680i lt motherboards with Q6600. But there is a major problem in overclocking. I can see from other posts that im not the only one with the issue. When will the updated bios be released? I am starting to think buying this board was a bad idea. Evga and other manufactures have the update. yet we are still in the dark. and its been almost a month from the bios release.
Any info on the bios update would be very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to read/reply to this post

What BIOS update are you referring to? EVGA has the P05 BIOS for the 680i LT as do we at our website. What specific problem do you have in regards to overclocking?
they have a P05A its a revised version with memory tweaks and voltage. its ment to help with overclocking quad cores. i cannot overclock any of mine on this board but can on others. as soon as i increase my fsb past 1400 the system is very unstable.
with my dual core e6700 i can go way higher. it is not the cpu or ram as i have tried them both out on other motherboards.
Thanks for the fast reply.
Sorry my system
2x 8800 gtx in sli
q6600 Go stepping
xfx 680i lt
4 gig ddr8500
my multiplyer is set a 9x the fsb will get to 1334 and stay very stable
any higher and it will not boot, if it does boot its shuts down about 2 mins later, iv tried everything for ram timings, speed, taking out 2 gig. upping voltages you name it. no mattter what happens if i go above this speed the pc locks up with the quad core. yet its stable with the dual.
Also The BIOS on your site for the motherboards will only allow you to set the fsb voltage to 1.4, from what i have seen the quads need a higher voltage when overclocked. Evga has the 1.5 option back in its revision bios(p05A). As well as other tweaks. I have seen this first had as a friend of mine has the motherboard/bios. Will we see this put back into the XFX bios. I am starting to think i should have gone with Evga :frown:. Will this be sorted in the next BIOS update.
Yes i am looking for a bit of hope as i really dont want to buy a new motherboard.
Again thanks for taking the time to read this.

OK, i am having the same problem with an EVGA 680i non LT board. it wont boot to 1333 stable even. its a bad board. as for the LT i dont know if its gonna take a quad much further then 1333....
i would try a known good OCer of a CPU and see if the board goes any higher.
I have a friend with the evga 680i lt and using his board with my
cpu(q6600 G0) we were able to hit 3.6 with a full boot to the os and it ran 4xprime95 stable for 5+ hours it did however get hot as hell. he is using the p05a bios. for your board have you tried the p30 it might help you out.

yea, i actually get better results with P29. i cant even boot with e6600 using p27. LOL my board is FUBARed, its going home to EVGAland soon, just started a ticket with them.
Can help but wish i never went sli or quadcore. my old e6700 + single 8800 never gave me problems. untill i went and spent **** loads of money only to give my self a headache. Up untill the quad core i loved my XFX board. now ill prob have to buy another board waste more money and end up feeling like a twat al over again :frown:

I cant of course speak for EVGA and how they post their BIOS updates, but our next BIOS update P06 (if I am not mistaken) will be out in the next few days that allows for the adjustments you are speaking of.
Thats great news. thank you so much
