G92 is dead, welcome D8E

" We wrote about D8M in June and you can read about it here. It is a mainstream card that Nvidia plans to reveal in November. The high end part won't be codenamed G92 and it will be known as D8E where D stands for Desktop, 8 for the eight generation and finally E as an Enthusiast.

D8M and D8V where V stands for Value comes in November while the high end D8E part will be pushed in early 2008.

The cards support Display Port, PCIe 2.0 and DirectX 10.1 and it is the 65 nanometre part. "

The HD2900pro is looking quite nice for a very cheap price. Highly OCed ill top over XT speeds. I dont mind the noise.

yeah, it is getting annoying, that we here new things all the time. But I do know tha Nvidia always has something nice lined up if it comes to new Video Cards and Motherboards. :)

I donno if Nvidia is doing it intentionally or these are being done by the several Nvidia partners or by several websites.Nvidia is actually trying to build up some suspence but is there any real need to build up the suspence ? We are not idiots that we'll buy just about anything. We'll buy only if that offers that performance in a competitive price level. What's the need of making these stories that G92 is that or G92 is not that,G92 is that.Pretty confusing & frustrating. The only thing which is currently confirmed by Nvidia is the " Skulltrail " & the " Nforce 7 " for AMD.

Ill keep my money in my pocket and my avatar up until i see Nvidia do something stupid. Like release a pointless card called the 8700GTS.

NVidia had a good and simple thing going with their current codenames... why must they tamper with it again? It's going to get even more confusing :?

It isn't that confusing. You just have to remember what each of the letters represent.

This is similar to AMD's new naming scheme for their CPUs. Right?

I'm mainly talking about the regular joe who can't/doesn't keep up with this stuff... Myself, I haven't kept up with AMD/ATI's codenames and would be somewhat lost if I didn't do any research about their video cards :?

ATI's numbering/lettering is a joke. I haven't had it figured out in years, but I have actually heard someone say 'Isn't the Radeon 9800 better than the NVidia 8800?'

Actualy id say know GT, GTS, GTX is alot easier then any of this other crap. And AMDs new name is just a replacement of Athlon. As for the ATI cards, they only added HD in front of the number. My best guess is for High Deff.

Nvidia nailed the decision to launch G92 aka D8M on the 29th of October, a whole two weeks before it was previously reported. The chips are ready, the boxes are in production and it will all be ready for the launch on one of the last days of October.

At this time there are no implications when will Nvidia launch D8V, aka G98, but it shouldn't be be that far away from this day. The high end comes next year as a dual card.

Both G92 and D8M codenames are real, it just depends who is Nvidia talking to.

HD2900pro it is.

Congrats on your new upgrade!

I heard that it (512mb one) costs less than the 8800GTS 320MB and it out performs it in most benchmarks. I'll have to check those benchmarks out for myself.

Yes it outperforms it in all the benchmarks ive seen and you can easily OC it to XT speeds. Which i will be doing if not flashing it to XT bios. Always been AMD/Nvidia but im sorry this is for the birds. I wont have the money for about a month, if Nvidia can show me something to change my mind ill gladly do it. But until then im set on this 2900pro.

I don't think Nvidia has something to come up with in a month to change your mind. Just my guess...

If only the 2900 PRO came out earlier! What a bargain!
