I would expect pricing drops to start happening early as we near the weekend.

As we begin a new quarter and prepare for the busiest time of the year, selected AMD dual-core desktop processors will have a reduction in suggested prices effective next Monday, October 8.

This will be a great opportunity to upgrade customers to dual-core, as the AMD Athlon™ X2 5000+, 5200+, 5600+, 6000+ and 6400+ processors all will feature new pricing. Please contact your authorized AMD distributor for specific pricing and availability details.

To help you in your marketing efforts of AMD platforms, please leverage the new assets now available in the Partner Marketing Toolkit section of the Market Builder portal. The Partner Marketing Toolkit was designed with you in mind, and can help you build effective marketing campaigns easily, by providing photography, product images, logos and targeted messaging to help you reach your customers. The new Consumer Marketing Campaign will also help you reach key markets, including enthusiasts and gamers.

Finally, we’re providing you with a reference for AMD-based desktop platforms for Q4 2007, to help you offer your customers exactly the solution they need based on their specific computing needs and budget.

Hmmm I dunno about these price cuts. I mean they are great and all but when AMD changes sockets all am2 users will own 'old' stuff and that hurts.

Still a better position than Intel user usually are when it comes to these things. With AMD you only have to worry about the socket, you don't have to worry about the chipset at all.

The chipset and the VRMs. :frown:
Pentium 4s and Core 2 Duo's both used the 775 socket. But the 775 motherboards like the 1st revision of the Intel Bad Axe (I think it was released a few months before the Core 2 Duo release), needed to be updated to be compatable with the Core 2 Duo.

Who cares, price cuts are good. Means when AM3 comes around AM2 and AM2+ will be dirt cheap and i can get my dad a new machine. (he can pay for his own video card)
