Hello all,

I recently bought an XFX 650i Ultra from scan computers (UK, I live in N Ireland), spec for the PC I am trying to set-up is below:

XFX 650i Ultra
2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo (1333Mhz FSB)
XFX 8800GTS XT 230MB
2GB Corsiar RAM
400GB Samsung Spinpoint HDD
Samsung DVD writer
Earthwatts 500W PSU (Came with case)
Antec Sonata III

Initial set-up: Mobo, video card, 1 stick ram connected within the case, nothing happened no fan activity on case/cpu video card nothing! I then tried without the case just on the table to ensure the case wasnt causing the issue, still no joy. I have read on this forum there is an issue with the 650i nVidia chipset when connecting a 1333Mhz CPU resulting in the same issue I have

Is this the same problem or has this been recitified?

The quick fix for this issue is to flash the bios with a new version but I dont have an older intel chip that runs on lower FSB

I have an open ticket at XFX support I can PM the details if needed.

Can someone please help?

The board must have the latest P03 bios installed before it will post with your 1333 fsb CPU. You would think it would at least read the CPU as 1066fsb and allow you to flash the bios, especially since the box states that it supports 1333 fsb.

A Celeron processor would do just to flash the bios.

Thanks for the reply SlugBug,

I just dont have an older intel chip lying around unfortunately, I received a reply from xfx support advising to upgrade to the latest bios, but I cant do that until I get the damn thing to post...

Do xfx have a UK support center/helpdesk by chance?

Any further help would be much appreciated

Do you have a friend who could lend you a cpu? You need to find out if the board will boot with an older cpu and allow you to flash the bios.

The guys on the forum are correct as usual :). That motherboard will not post with the 1333MHz FSB CPUs unless you have the latest BIOS (most of them have it, but I am sure as you have found out there are some out there with a previous version on it.) Start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and let me know the number. Also in the ticket list your retailers info so I can work with the Europe team if needed to help resolve this.
