Hello
I was wondering... I just bought a 8800GTX card, and the idle temperature lies around 67-70 degrees celcius, and load temperature around 80C. Is this too high? The fan is running at 100%.
Thanks.

That is not too high for that video card as it runs warmer then other cards. Try removing your system case cover to see if the temps drop, if so you may want to look into more case cooling options.

Thats amazingly normal for the 8 series.
Don't start worrying until triple digits.

First of all, WELCOME to the forums fugle!!! :icon_tiphat:
I own myself a Leadtek 8800GTX Video Card.
At first, my card idled at ~65C-67C and was reaching temps of up to 82C on maximum load. But that was without the card's fan running @100%.
Are you sure your fan is running @100%.
These 8800GTX cards are known to have problems with the fan speeds. They NEVER reach 100% speed of the fan.
My advice...use RivaTuner to set your fan speed to 100% ALL THE TIME and only then, check the temps again...;-)
When I did that, my temps dropped to 50C-53C on IDLE and never reach above 70C on maximum LOAD.
It'll be better to run the card with such lower temps although you should be safe even with 80C on maximum LOAD. ;-)
GOOD LUCK and keep us updated...hope this helps...:icon_tiphat:

Thanks zachig! :)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it runs at 100%. I have set it to 100% in nTune, and now I installed RivaTuner, and it is also set to 100% there. Default the fan was set to 56% or something like that, and then the idle temp was around 78C and load 92C.
Thanks for helping :)

You're welcome! :icon_tiphat:
Again, like I said before, you should be fine with these temps.
I'm having mine at the moment @54C on Idle and it never reaches above 70C on maximum Load, but hey...I totally forgot, I have a Vantec Tornado 92mm fan blowing air on it , and this fan is CRAZY :ahhhhh:(but currently the noise is bearable, as I'm running it @5V instead of 12V ;-)).
Without the fan, I think I had my temps around ~65C on Idle and around ~77C-78C on maximum Load. :?
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask...:icon_tiphat:

Those temps are normal for that card so don't get too worried until you smell smoke :icon_tiphat:
