Dead Xfx 7950 Rma Help

I have or at least had a XFX 7950GT and I was playing bioshock last night, all of a sudden my PC shut off and then when i turned it back on the screen was changing from blue to red and a little white with lines going everywhere so i guess i could say there were artifacts covering the screen. So i took it out and put in my FX 5700 and it worked fine. I put it back in and it looked like it was even worst than before so i got freaked out and turned it off. I removed the heatsink on the card took off the plastic things on the memory and they look strange, they are a grayish color, so i changed the thermal paste with Arctic silver 5 and put everything back together and it looked not as filled with artifacts but it was still really bad.

I have had this card for about a month now with no problems and i bought it from a friend of mine in CA, can i RMA this card because it is definitely dead from what i can see

okay, im going to start a support ticket, but I'm going to add some more info

the specs of the computer it was in are

Core 2 Duo E4400
AsRock 4CoreDual SATA2
2GB AMPX DDR2 667
OCZ GameXStream 700W

I just put the card in another PC and it has the same problem

When the card was working, it was idling at 55C, but i heard that this card runs hot so i though that was normal
