I`m setting up a new computer from scratch. I connect all the needed power to the motherboard, drives, etc. I turn on the power supply and a green light on the motherboard turns on indicating that there is power. I push the power button on the front of the chassie and all the fans kick on but I don`t get the high pitch beep noise that I`m suppose to get when the motherboard does its power test. Then I unplug the power that goes to the XFX video card, start it up again, and I get the high pitched beep.

Here are my specs:
Intel Quad Core 2.0GHz processor
Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus motherboard
RocketFish 700W powersupply
3G DDR2 memory
I don't have an OS installed yet

Where is my problem? What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Does the system still boot without the beep? Could be a PSU problem or a short in another component.

I have removed all components and started it on just the cpu alone and then added each component including the graphics card. I don't get any beeps not even one for POST. After 3 mins of the fans just running then it automaticly shuts off. Any ideas or suggestions?

My ticket number is 113832. Currently I have come down to no POST with the video card in and without the video card in. I'm just puzzled at what the problem(s) could be. With just the CPU and a 1G stick of memory it will run for 10+ mins now and it will do the same thing with the video card installed but no video and no POST either way. thanks for the help

just currious , are you using a wireless keyboard & mouse, I experienced similar issues when I was using a MS wireless desktop setup,
when I tried a wired keyboard & mouse the no post problem dissapeared. see post http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=88&order=desc&page=3

Just wondering if you might be experiencing a similar issue, if you are using a wireless setup try it with a wired Keyboard & mouse and see if it posts OK you might need to clear the CMOS before trying the wired setup .

No I'm not using wireless but that is weird that that would cause a similar issue. Thanks for the thought!

Isn't this in the wrong category?

Did you try another video card? It would be good to test out anothe video card that uses the same interface so you could test it out if the video card has the problem or is it the mobo or PSU.
