If they have plans for this on the desktop, I'm skipping DDR3 :)

XDR is being used in the PS3 if in correct and if thats the case i guess you can say its not getting any real gain over whatever the 360 has.

Well computationally the PS3 PWNS the 360 but graphically the 360 wins because of the video memory bus of the PS3 is small.

Well you can skip DDR3 i suppose but youll be waiting an awefully long time. XDR has been around for a while but still hasent been released. I doubt youll see anything thats going to be relased for it in the desktop market anytime soon. Its just another format to contend with and most people wanna just take the DDR3 route. Thats why Rambus hit the dust.

No, I think Rambus hit the dust because it was run by a bunch of lawyers lol

But I agree, generally speaking people want to see one standard so I don't know if XDR will ever reach the desktop.

The problem with these technologies is the price.
If they made it competetive like DDr2 it may be more appealing to people.
Im not ready to pay 300 bucks for 2 GB of ram.
Anyways DDR3 is pretty expensive right now so im not sure people will quickly addapt to it.

RAM is always on an up and down cycle with prices, however when technologies never hit the down spike for price you can be assured it won't survive ie RAMBUS.

It's an interesting technology, and it does have a chance on the market for desktop computers, but who knows when. They do have plans for it just we don't know when. And all the other factors that you guys have brought up too.

Im not ready to pay 300 bucks for 2 GB of ram.I remember people paying 400 bucks for DDR2 667 and people are paying more now for DDR3.
