Hello all,
I just bought and assembled a new computer, using the XFX 680i ISH motherboard. I had assembled everything together, and tried to power the computer on but pressing power on the motherboard or the power button on the case does nothing, meaning no fans turn on, no POST, no beeps, nothing. It seems that the power supply is supplying power to the motherboard as a blue LED is lit on the motherboard, as well as the gigabit ethernet light. Help! Any help is appreciated.

Specs are as follows:
XFX 680i ISH mobo
Foxconn 8800 GTX SLi
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
2GB Corsair Dominator 8500c5d RAM
Rosewill Xtreme 750W Power Supply
Maxtor 300GB HDD
Lite-on DVD-R Drive

Try booting up the motherboard outside of your case with just the bare minimum components installed (CPU, video card, and one stick of ram).

Just double check and make sure your power switch is hooked up right on the motherboard.

Yaa, same. If you are getting power yet you don't get any movement or beep from the PC is it probably not even trying to turn on.

I agree, to double check the connections. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I tried this and still no dice, even with bare minimum outside of the case, it will not power on using the screwdriver method to short the power switch leads on the motherboard or by pressing the white power button on the motherboard itself. All power supply connections are secure, and I've got the 24 pin power connection as well as the 8 pin CPU power connection hooked up, and I've tried with and without the 4 pin VGA mobo power connection to no avail.

I also forgot to mention that I've tested the power supply in another computer that I own and it powers the other computer just fine (P4 3.0GHz 1GB Corsair RAM x800Pro video card ABIT IC7-MAX3 Motherboard.)

Reseat the CPU.

Hi Scott,
I did reseat the CPU a few times, but still the mobo/power supply will not turn on when shorting the power switch leads or by pressing the power button on the motherboard.

Some side questions:
1) if the CPU were borked in some way would that cause the entire setup not to start?
2) whats the real bare minimum to make the computer turn on i.e. make the power supply and motherboard fans turn on? Do I really need to have the CPU, memory and video card plugged in, or can I just have the motherboard with only the power connectors plugged in to test if the motherboard works?

Try booting with only on stick of RAM, with out the video card. To be honest not sure if a faulty CPU would cause it not to even try to boot, possible I guess if it is causing a short.

Hello,
I have tried to run it with only the CPU and RAM and still nothing :( I'm guessing board is DOA? I've still got a few days to RMA to newegg, should I do that?

Might as well RMA is since you can.
