I still need to buy a good mouse for myself. Now I need a cordless one because I tend to run out of cable and it keeps hitting against my feet which starts to annoy me. I was thinking of buying the G7 any one got any opinions on this mouse or any other mouse that they would recommend. Price isnt really a issue but I dont wanna go overboard for just a mouse.

Get a G5... Unless you don't mind $500 in batteries a year.

The G7 is a great mouse as it includes two lithium ion battery packs so you won't really be spending $500 a year on batteries; its smarter using rechargeable ;) Another good cordless mouse is the Razer DeathAdder (http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=43).
However I am not a big fan of cordless mice so I would go with the G5.

Bobletman's comuter is really far from his mousing area, so he needs wireless according to him.
I would also go for the G7, its the best wireless mouse, and my brother just got one for $60 at futureshop, just price match it to canada computers.
If you can just go to canada computers, they made a big deal out of the price mathcing

I have a G7, it's great, but I have to switch the batteries every day. Often in the middle of a spellfight in a battleground. Also the battery charger design isn't perfect, sometimes I put the batteries in it and they click into place, charge for a minute or two, but then the contact is lost without my notice. So when I need to switch batteries I end up with a dead mouse... :(
So I would seriously consider going with the G5 if wireless wasn't a necessity. :)
Other than that the G7 is definitely a great mouse.

I just recently got a G7 mouse actually. It owns....IT OWNS!!!111111
The only problem I have with it is changing batteries but it only takes like 3 seconds to do as opposed to searching for hours for any batteries that might work....
One cool thing is that if the battery is low and about to die, the mouse will not lagg or anything until it just shuts off from dead battery. Until it's dead, it goes smooth as butter.
The range on the mouse is also impressive and it works on almost any surface! I would recommend this mouse to anyone and so I recommend it to you!:icon_tiphat:

Lol well I sort of need a reasonable objection not to buy it and it would have to be a pretty good one to cause Ive just read some more reviews and I really wanna buy this mouse.

Actually I would as well. Nothing like when someone turns on the microwave or use a cordless phone to make your mouse wonky. Instant response with wired!

A Wired mouse with USB Extension Cord is still faster then Wireless so don't worry about speed.

Don't get a razor... Piece of sh*t.
Yes, if you have a Cell phone in your pocket, wireless network, microwave and so on CAN cause problems, but not always. You will see that Wireless will cause more problems then it solves. The batterys will always die when you are about to "BOOM HEADSHOT" someone, or your sister turns on the microwave and your mouse goes crazy and you "BOOM HEADSHOT" teamkill your whole team.

G7 runs on a 2.4Ghz signal but I am not sure if its the same kind of band signal as cordless phones/cell phones.
Miker
10-26-2007, 05:34 PM
Doesn't have to be the same frequency to interfere. Sorda like if you hold a cellphone near a speaker it goes crazy.
bobletman
10-26-2007, 05:45 PM
I agree with all of you on the theory that the frequences can interfere with all of that especially if its on the same frequency. But ive been searching around some websites and there are currently no problems like that. My microwave is also out of range of the usb range I think and other people also said that the microwave doesnt cause problems.

I didn't know a cordless mouse and a speaker were the same devices...
Using a different frequency lessons the chance of interference. Why do you think there are so many band signals on an AM/FM channel?
bobletman
10-26-2007, 06:03 PM
Hmm and i think i forgot to mention my cordless phone is 5.8 ghz so those should not interfere.
werty316
10-26-2007, 06:11 PM
Also think about this: if you have two cordless phones that are a different brand/model and both run on the same 2.4GHz frequency signal then why don't they interfere with eachother?
Frequncy maybe the same the the band signal channel is dfferent (I think that is how it goes).

10-26-2007, 06:12 PM
Your probably right the phone is also made to communicate only with its selected base station for those very reasons. I honestly dont think that interference is as bad as it used to be. They were even thinking about allowing cellphones to be used in airplanes.

Not sure but the middle scroll button on my MX500 registers as mouse button 1,... its suppose to register as mouse button 3...

i have a old logitech mouse that registers as mouse button 3. But you have to remember its only the beta so they prob will be fixing it. Cause not have a mouse button 3 button is a pretty big problem.

the delay on the G7 is negligable, so the only difference really is cord vs cordless.. if you dont mind replacing the batteries several times a week then the G7 is good. personally i would get an extension wire.. i find replacing batteries a big nuisance.
edit: woops.. appears i missed the last page lol

I used to use that good ol' Intellimouse Explorer. Sweet button setup on the thing and smooth as glass. Then I got a couple of the newer intellimouses (mice?) and didn't care for them.
The G7 is stupidly precise. You think you won't use the sensitivity buttons but you'd be wrong once you get used to it, not like for sniping and such (most games do that already) but for exterior spaces to interior spaces, its nice to have that quicker turn when you're in the open. The lack of a 'forward' button is a pain, but I realize I didn't use it all too often anyway except to map it in games. One amazing point is that you can click the wheel without inadvertently turning it, which is nice and makes it usable. The buttons seem to have a bit of a double-click at times, but not nearly as bad as that last-iteration intellimouse I had, which would close two windows at once if you barely fingered it funny. The battery swapping is easy, though you'll take note to make sure the battery is solidly in the charger and the little light is blinking just to make doubly sure. The batteries last just fine for my gaming, 4-5 hours straight mousing I'd say, and charge in just one or two hours on the boosted setting (Just be plugged into a Mobo port to be sure).
Did I mention it's black?
