I'm setting up a video encoding system. That said, I just purchased:
2 - Sans Digital ms2ut enclosures
4 - Serial ATA150 hard drives
1 - eSata bracket cable
1 - HP Pavilion M8120N Core 2 Quad 3GB ram (I wiped off Vista and put Tiny XP rev 6 on it)
My plan was two have 2 raid enclosers setup. one strictly for reading (r:) and the other for writing (w:)
I got everything setup (updated drivers off Intel's website and all). Plug in the one Raid drive (set Raid to 0) format it and get it all setup using Disk Management in the Control Panal (R:). Everything works great. I unplug that Raid and plug in the other. Do everything the same and get it working (w:). I then turn off the computer, plug them both in at the same time and turn it on. Within the BIOS I see both of the Sans Digital drives (seems to be going well). However, a screen displays for a second showing all physical drives (it shows both the HD's that came with the computer), but only shows one of the Sans Digital drives. When the computer boots, if I go to My Computer I only see one of the RAID's, not both.
I can't figure out what the deal is. Anybody have any advice? I will say, I'm not a hardware guy at all, I just know enough to make myself dangerous. I've never done this before.
Last bit of information, both interfaces in the eSata bracket work, I tested each one individually, the only problem is when I have both plugged in at the same time.
On the physical device screen the 2 HD's that came with the computer have different serial numbers, where I'm thinking the two Sans Digital enclosers might have the same????? Could this be an issue?
TIA
