is there anyways to password protect a second internal hdd?

i have all my work saved in there and i don't want any friends and gf to view the files cause there's confidential for upcoming game, also copying my design. i got friends with big mouths that's why and i don't want to end up loosing my job:lol::lol::lol::lol:

they all are big files and i don't like to keep in in small devices and external hdd.

i have to let my gf know the pass to the comp. lol

just a simple pass protect to open the hdd.

thanks for the time

You can restrict access to your hard-drives using the "gpedit.msc" program.

Click on Start/ Run and type "gpedit.msc" (without quotes). Then go to User Configuration/ Administratives Templates/ Windows Components/ Windows Explorer... On your right panel there are a few options to play with like restricting access to your hard-drives and what-not.

I also found this and gave it a quick look and hopefully it helps: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/232

If you're using 2K or newer, then create a user account for your GF to log in with. Then you can protect the drive on a per user basis.

What OS are you running?

Typing "gpedit.msc" in the "Run" dialog box in the "Start" menu should work...

i'm running xp home edition

i tried typing in in RUN but didn't work
cannot find gpedit.msc

i don't know.

i'm curios cause there are ways to password protect external hard drive
i'm just wondering if there's a way to do it on an external. not just a folder but the actual drive itself

That would make sense since XP Home does not feature the Group Policy Editor.
